IpsDisplay, 18 Jun 2023The future has already decided true mobile gaming is :
... moreConsole pretty much killed the PC gaming as there gaming console life time for generation is like 5-10 years so all games up to 10 years need to be optimized on there hardware limits. While PC hardware is advancing yearly. Also console cant be powerful if they want to make profit from them and hold there price around 500 euro so more population can afford to buy them. While with PC it's like 1000 euro for decent gaming computer and if you want all bling to max you need like 1500-2000 euro to have like several graphics cards and water cooling on everything. And then all games need to be converted from console to PC so all the new games just look bad on PC cause they need to be on the level of latest console that may be something like 5 years old already.
So not really a point to build a gaming PC now when all games are trash with all types of errors and bugs. Also all these protective programs on games to protect the game studios on pirating games cause loads of problems on games too. Assassins creed was good example where the game run like trash when you buy the game but when you pirate the game then it run very well. Removing always online and no copy programs. It's like the DVD vs pirated copy picture where you want to watch a movie you need to skip a lot of things before you get to see the movie and while pirated is just click and play.
I pirated a lot of games cause they lost demo for games that i used to check if the game is good and will it run on my PC and then buy the games. But then i started to pirate and there were no need to buy games anymore. Especially these no multiplayer and only single player games that were just too expensive for only single player game that give you at most like 20 hours to complete the games and you need to pay for like 50-70 euro for them. Multiplayer games last long as you can play with other people like i played cod4 for 5 years cuse custom servers and custom maps and mods

Manufacturers will go port-free to save money. The moment Apple does it, Samsung will follow. It doesn't matter if it makes the device less usable. It doesn't matter if it's slow and unreliable because there's no good wireless replacement. You'll be told to want it if it boosts profit.
Some day full wireless will work very well, but it's not now. We can't even get wireless audio without compression artifacts and dropouts.

Imagine not being able to use your phone when it's flat..
Because it has to be docked to a wireless charger to charge.
No thank you.
And power isn't going to be broadcast like WiFi anytime soon.
I very very much want the ability to just plug in and keep using my phone when it dies.
So no, completely wireless would be a very dumb move in the near term.

It seems like the kind of future manufacturers would force upon costumers, just like the removal of micro SD, headphone jack, addition of camera notch, etc.

I use Android Auto in my car. I think that this is almost standard scenario for mid range cars in Europe. There is no pre-installed navigation system but you can connect your phone and have navigation, Spotify and other phone features in your car.
Android Auto works only when the phone is connected via the USB port so no, I would not buy a phone that has only wireless charging and no USB port.

Bzuco, 18 Jun 2023It is actually not exactly truth.
Smartphones only replace... moreSmartphones replaced mainstream use of PCs and cameras. The biggest ammount that makes sales of both. Today you barely see dedicated cameras, which were almost all-present in the 2000s and 2010s. The same with PCs, for many people the phone is their only computing device.
And as for others... Watches are regaining their position (smart, sport), GPS products have remained niche (sport, outdoor, expedition, marine...).
Charging port is smaller now, probably will remain smaller forever, but once wireless is small enough (say 1 cm diameter), nobody will care.
Posted also from PC, but could be typed on anything.

probably it's the future, but in my opinion it will be horrible if it happens. At first, only way to transfer files from phone to computer will be by what? Bluetooth? or maybe everyone will have a cloud synchronizing phone with PC? and also not everyone has couple hours to charge their phone while it's on charging pad, so i think it will he very non ergonomic decision if they do it
