Agree with X, S4 is already in awesome dimensional.
but for me, 4.5" is still pocketable and rare.
4.3" somehow ambigu, I owned SGS2.
Bigger battery is what we all can say yes, bigger is better! :)

Sorry guys, I prefer the bigger size phones (5" or larger, currently using Note 2) so smaller ones don't appeal to me.

Your dead right that the manufacturers have been getting it easier and easier for aBOUT THE LAST 5 YEARS.
Same micro tech stuffed into bigger and bigger containers,
I would normally agree with you BUT every day logic says that in the next ten years we will want great big screen real estate to use a device that happens to have a phone as one of its aspects.
So when you say you want a smaller device do you actually mean you really want a compact phone to fit in your pants pocket and you don't really give a rats for large screen size and pic viewing, internet browsing, video playing, and all that multimedia stuff. Then fine I suggest you go and by a phone of about 5 years ago. You can get them cheap and they are small and work as a fone perfectly.
What I think you actually are asking for is a tiny device but with all the functions of a large screen device.
Hey it just don't work, You need two different devices,
Similar to the other old chestnut. I have big fingers so I need a big keyboard but want a tiny fone to fit in my pants pocket.
Doesn't work. Alternate solutions have been around for years checkout Dragon Dictate etc. but they are not that successful.
Anyone can make a small fone smaller you just got to carry around a separate 5.3" screen and plug into the phone when you want to surf the web etc. Just put the 5.3" in your shirt or jacket pocket and put the tiny phone in your pants pocket. Problem solved.

Can anyone give there opinion in the following topic:
The capacitive soft keys under the touch screen, should they (OEMs) remove it and add it to the screen itself, which would add at least a half an inch or do you prefer it being.there?

What I don't understand is why you spend your precious time to respond to something that you don't agree with. It's not a debate or a poll here, it's meant for people that want top specs with smaller screens and smaller physical dimensions.

I disagree the benchmark should be 4.5 inches, think between Galaxy SII and Galaxy SIII.

Both the iphone 4S and the iPhone 5 fit comfortably in a jeans pocket. What are you complaining about GSM Arena??? Android Phablets are for people who never leave the house and don't really care about portability!

Finally. I'm sick and tired of either having an option of oversized gigantic flagship phones and totally crippled "Mini" versions that are even worse than 2 generation old flagship products.
And for everyone crying they want a big screen, buy a damn Galaxy Note or a freakin tablet and leave the rest of us who want sub 4,5 inch phones alone.
I just want a phone that has a big enough screen, but can still be easily operated by just one hand and that can fit in most pockets. Something around SGS2 size.

Sorry, I've got a Galaxy S3 and I think, although rather big and not so comfortable to use, the extra screen state is worth the large size.

For those stating that there are such phones already... and those saying there are pretty powerfull ones already, that is not the thing.
The display is often far behind. I'm not a DPI hunter type, but 720p is a standard, the resolutions often found vary quite a lot from maker to maker, the colors are not in the same league, the contrast and light, and often sunlight performance is worse.
The camera, is also far behind.
Batteryperformance, as seen with Motorola Razr i and M, does not have to be terrible in a small size device, eihter.
And i suspect that a lot less money has been spent on developing and optimizing the components and layout compared to the much more expensive and more spacious devices. To fit the best battery possible + camera + high end CPU/GPU in a small package is the real challenge.
I know several of people that wants good devices in a smaller size (most female). There simply is no android device to recommend.
The motorola Razr M seemed ok, and the camera was just that, ok only and not up to the task. But it never came to my shores. The Razr I just showed up, and now it feels like yesterdays news.
There simply arent many good compact devices. ANd if you get one, you can be shure that you have to make compromises on several areas that you shouldn't have to, like display and camre.
And most of the time these devices are a bit cheaper than the high ends, so it's pretty clear those are not in the same caliber.
Really, the only good compact device is the iPhone, and for some that is not what they want, and for me, it's a brand I simply cant recommend. And even the latest iPhone is yesterdays news, now.
Peronaly I can handle the note II.
But still, could see myself insted having the Note 8.0 plus a more compact device.

Size of current android flagships should be the limit. However, more emphases should be given to performance and battery life of the devices.

I wish all phones came in multiple sizes. I love freedom of choice. But I think the petition should go both ways. I really wish I could get a nexus phone with a larger screen. The onscreen buttons take up too much space and its only about 4.3 inches of usable screen most of the time. I wish Google would give more choices when creating these phones.

AnonD-73765, 19 Apr 2013Well, I'd petition 4 a choice of higher internal storage n ... morei agree with you there, it is 2013 and batteries really have not advanced as fast as the tech they are supposed to power, there is no reason why current generation of batteries should be closer to 4000mAh instead of the current 2000-2500mAh average capacitis they have, as for storage again, there is no reason why current phones can't be 64gb, with everything on the increase in terms of speed and size then flagships should get ample storage.
PPI does not need to be focused on now, anything over 300 is not visible to the naked eye anyway, and most flagships are pushing 500, so move on from there and focus on other things.
