The Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra could support 65W fast charging thanks to new battery tech

13 July 2023
Reports claim that Samsung is experimenting with stacked batteries, which have a higher density and support faster charging but are more difficult to manufacture.

People on here are being overdramatic. Sure, 65W is much improved from 45W. Sure they're other phones out here that charge much faster than 65W that Samsung will be providing next year. Does it really matter though? 65W charging is plenty enough for an average consumer. Now, the demand that I want is that I want Samsung to start their base with 12GB of RAM instead of 8. Higher storage options must need come with 16GB or RAM.

Anonymous, 13 Jul 2023240w already available at other brand phone lol, this so behind Who needs 240w? Anything over 65-67w is overkill IMO.

Not buying any phone with less than 65W 🔋

      Apple
      Nothing
      Google
      Samsung
      Sony

Bogdaan, 13 Jul 2023Not buying any next Samsung phone with less than 65w.65Watt is for midrange
        120watt+ is for flagship

Not buying any samsung until at least samsung match the chinese offering

Hoha fast charging is inevitable. Ain't they the ones who were saying fast charging is bad. 🤣 Google & Apple are officially the only one in stone age 🤣

Yes, for example Honor with Silicon-carbon batteries, which are much better than stacked Li-Po or Li-Ion batteries.

Even Pixel phones have terrible battery life straight out of the box, and so does pretty much every other phone as well, that's completely usual.

So please admit samsung and iphone are just late to the party and theyre charging speed are jokes. No chinese phone users ever said their battery depleted over time. The only time they say that its when even when it came out of the box it was bad.

the question is, is it real 65watts charging because samsung has been the king of marketing with big numbers and mediocre results.
Their 45w charging takes twice the time than my old p40 pro took to charge.

jayDAWG, 13 Jul 2023Stacked battery at 65w is different technology to 65w fast ... moreCool, however it's not a new technology.

The Doogee V Max had stacked batteries way before this. Clearly shown in this teardown video.

Alright, alright that only has 33W fast charging.. well the Doogee S100 also exists with stacked batteries and that has 66W fast charging shown in this teardown video.

To be fair these aren't that old, but the Ulfeone Power Armor 13 also has stacked batteries and is almost 2 years old as shown in their own teardown video.

"is harder to manufacture " , yes, when you are late to the party is surely hard something that for others is piece of cake now

DarlingYext, 13 Jul 2023"You're talking about fast-charging tech. They... moreStacked battery at 65w is different technology to 65w fast charging. The stacked battery Tech has better heat management, better safety, efficient charging, longer life span. In simple terms a 65w stacked battery is 5-10% better at everything compared to your standard 65w fast charging tech from Chinese phones.

this is good news but there is no point if they still wont ship the charger

Yes and that's what I was talking about, I'm glad we agree.

Stacked, or not, the Reno Ace already had 2 batteries, which is what's important for these types of ultra fast chargers.

What's the point of creating a new technology just to achieve something that's already outdated? Even phones around 300 usd use 65W, or sometimes even faster charging. Samsung saying it's some ground breaking new technology is just so they can have an excuse for there well over 1000 usd Ultra phone.

Don't get me wrong, this might be the future, and it might end up being ground breaking, but with it achieving only 65W, it's nothing special.

ABOUT TIME! China phone manufactures did that in 2018 but you know what better late than never. Now waiting on Apple to drag its feet to the 65 watt standard AND USB-C
