Dan, 25 Jul 2023iPhones don’t have telephoto yet everyone buys them Sony should stop making low smarphones. Too many Chinese brands are there.

Maybe they should like this:
- iPhone Pro Max series Xperia 1 series (bigger)
- iPhone Pro series Xperia 5 series (smaller)

- iPhone Plus series Xperia 7 series (bigger)
- iPhone vanila series Xperia 9 series (smaller)

Nick Tegrataker, 25 Jul 2023"I believe the camera market has the best naming trend... moreHold up!

ZV-1, ZV-1F and ZV-1II are fixed lens vlog cameras tiered only in horizontal axis like Xperia 1, 1II, 1III, etc
ZV-E1 and E10 are vlog cams with interchangeable lens tiered in both horizontal and vertical axis like Xperia phones 1, 5, 10 and Xperia phones 1, 1II, 1III, etc. Next ZV-E1 will be Mark II
So these two are completely different products despite being in ZV family

APS-C a6XXX family is a product range with its own fanbase (pretty much legacy) and pretty much entry to mirrorless. That's why they aren't screwing up with the name.

Sony cameras owners rarely switch between the models, usually they stay with one camera model they are comfortable with. How many people you know that went from a7r to a7s? I don't know any

Sony never dissaspoints, next year they will release just with 1 camera 🤣

iPhone non pro - 2 cameras
            Nothing phone (1) and (2) - 2 cameras
Google Pixel non pro - 2 cameras

I saw the camera tests on 1 V, the telephoto is not great, its soft and gets even softer when zoomed all the way in.
for non enthusiast user like myself this 2 camera setup is ok.
I guess I'm wishing for too much, but if they used new Exmor T on both lenses I would be impressed.

TEtech, 25 Jul 2023Although sony is flopping hard with the xperia lineup, I ha... more"I believe the camera market has the best naming trend in any industry, the product name followed the generation is just better than any random number the other companies throw at their products"

Are you kidding me? Sony's naming scheme for their cameras is absolutely atrocious and severely confusing for any beginner photographers trying to get their new cameras. How does using 4-digit numbers for the APS-C lineup but only 1-digit for FF make any sense? Why is a6600's successor named a6700, when a7 III's successor was called a7 IV? For FF lineup, why did Sony include the standard, high-resolution and high-sensitivity models in the a7 series, but gave the high-speed and almighty models separate names (a9 and a1)? It gets even worse in their vlog cam lineup where ZV-E1 is better than ZV-E10 even though the least performant model based on RX100 V is somehow called ZV-1.

The rest of the industry isn't that great at naming their products either (e.g. Canon R7 is an APS-C model whereas R6 and R8 are a full-frame), and the only company that I believe is the most reasonable in this regard is Fujifilm. The way phone manufacturers name their phones is so much easier to follow because the bigger number in the same series implies it's newer and better most of the time.

Enam Khan, 25 Jul 2023Confusing name! What type of name is this! 5 V! Lol!Although sony is flopping hard with the xperia lineup, I have to admit the naming scheme is great, I believe the camera market has the best naming trend in any industry, the product name followed the generation is just better than any random number the other companies throw at their products

What is the point having two wide lenses 24mm and 16mm ? There's not much difference between them. Personally I use tele more then UWA, so I would'nt buy this phone.

Anonymous, 24 Jul 2023No telephoto!? Bony is doomed, I tell you! DOOMED!They can't be doomed when they've been flopping since the beginning.

Compare to their flagship which is Xperia 1 series, just downgrade the display to FHD+, downgrade the SoC to SD 7+ Gen 2, downgrade protection to Vultus gen 1, use a little bit inferior cam.

so, have to decide which one...

Anonymous, 24 Jul 2023No telephoto!? Bony is doomed, I tell you! DOOMED!Sony aren't doomed as Sony was never the biggest phone seller! Not back in the day when Nokia and Motorola easily outsold them, and currently when Apple and Samsung easily outsell them.

Sony are still a big company though not nearly as much as they're Television and Walkman heyday. It's other divisions within Sony that are making them money these days.

Actually a lot more people use the Ultrawide camera than the Telephoto camera when they have both available in their phone.

Loads of people take Ultrawide photos of places scenery they visit, especially when on holiday.

Whereas for most people the instances they will need to use the 2x/3x Telephoto zoom on their phone is rare.

All manufacturers now are omitting some features from their second tier phones. Saving them for their flagship models.
