AnonD-115286, 27 Apr 2013Well, I'm not agree with you, the major/most obvious differ... moreSo? Whilst I agree, the software "numbers" don't mean anything iOS versions could go up in 10's and Apple still wouldn't have to adding loads of features. They a both consecutive updates, numbering makes no difference.

Fine by me... I have an old Nexus S, 4.2 runs smoothly on it, if 4.3 comes along with bug fixing and minor interface refinements I really don't mind it.

Most likely 5.0 will require something a bit more powerful...

lol google got no innovation left, still jelly bean and android 4,xxxx
i'll go with ios, nice and clean, superb optimization

AnonD-136962, 27 Apr 2013So google has chosen the way of ios.i still don't find any ... moreWell, I'm not agree with you, the major/most obvious differences between 4.1 and 4.2 are

                  Lock-screen widgets
                  "Photosphere" panorama photo
Support Multiple User Account for Tablet
and of course some Bug fixing and performance enhancement
There are many minor enhancement as well, go check on this, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Android_version_history

Although, as you say, they are not Huge enhancement/different between 4.1 n 4.2. But THAT IS WHY IT IS 4.2 AND STILL CALL JB RIGHT? If only bug fixing released, you will only see smth like 4.1.1 to 4.1.2 and etc. That is the difference between Major upgrade/enhancement, Minor upgrade/enhancement and Bug fixing release.

Unlike IOS, adding some features and bug fixing, straightly jump from IOS-5.x to IOS-6.0.....

There are some people who use clone of galaxy s3 or note2. But they can't understand it because these clones are made so much efficiently that it hard to detect by a normal user. most of them run with powervr sgx 531 gpu and 512 mb ram. these clone only score 20 fps in nenamark 2.3 but normal user don't check it. i have found a clone note 2 in the hand of my friend. everywhere even on the battery there is written galaxy note 2, even on the start animation. by cpu identifier app i found it is powervr sgx 531 gpu, 2 core processor and 2 gb faked ram value. and the phone is very laggy as it running with jelly bean 4.1 but i didn't tell my friend because he will be depressed. this type of user complain about lag on s3 or note 2 but not understand that he is using a super clone phone. so if anyone found lag on his s3 or note 2 install nenamark 2 and cpu identifier and check the score and hardware.

So the next update could be much like 4.2.2.Google should rather name it 4.2.3. :p.. Just the name 'Android Key Lime Pie' would have caused people to sit up and take a look.

how about more icons per homescreen??? what looks good ona 400 x 800 4 in screen, looks just stupidly large on a 1080 x 1920 5 in screen!!
'go launcher' will do it, why cannot android integrate it??

MadLettuce, 27 Apr 2013This would be absolutely stupid. Supporting only high range... moreSame reason ICS sucks. it has a higher hardware requirement than GB, then along came JB, with project butter which supposedly reduces lag, but at what cost? higher hardware requirement, yes you guessed right.

Not as much difference than GB--ICS, but still enough to make single core devices with 512mb ram that can run ICS being left out of the JB train.

Now, KLP would probably not need a quad core device, a dual core krait would probably be enough, but the older design cpu and gpu like the ones in 2011 devices would definitely struggle. Bear in mind that krait came in 2012, so 2011 isnt exactly ancient, guess we'll just wait and see, rather than speculate pointlessly.. :)

So google has chosen the way of ios.i still don't find any major difference in between android 4.1 and 4.2.insted adding feature I think google should optimize the android at least ios level speciall in ram and application management part.battery and background process management of android still way behind.

AnonD-9845, 27 Apr 2013This would be the last official update for the Galaxy Nexus... moreThis would be absolutely stupid. Supporting only high range phones on an OS would be the stupidest choice google could make with android, since that's what this OS is about. Fragmentation. While not incredibly good for optimization, it offers a similar experience on a wide range of devices. And I honestly doubt that Key Lime Pie would have that requirement. It might be the last official for the GN, but the quad core thing is silly...so silly it's sad.
