Samsung is betting big on its new foldables and demand for memory chips in H2.

Thing which Samsung requested permission to those companies, to use that technologies, then Apple claimed about that, without having nothing to do with that? Apple in the time of Steve Jobs liked very much to persecute Samsung saying absurd things about stolen technologies, You don't have nothing say about that, you know how Steve Jobs was in the past.

No wonder their value is decreasing. Samsung is producing poor quality low and mid range phones with unacceptable high prices. If they keep this up they will face major loss soon.

"Samsung profits sinks by 95% in Q2, memory chip demand improves".

Nice attention grabbing headline. But where did you get this figure from the source mentioned at the bottom of the article?

I am very surprised by smartphone sales situation. Of course I expected the profits to be down, but like 30-40%, not almost 100!

If this isn't a wake-up call for Samsung to dump TM Roh even before planned 2024 stepdown, I don't know what is.

I've worked in smartphone sales in the UK for coming onto 10 years now, and even here, people buy cheap. I'll sell 50 A-series Samsung for every S-series model.

The common retort is that these low and mid rangers do everything your average punter requires and as much as that's blasphemy to myself and many other tech enthusiasts on here, it's absolutely spot on.

95% of the population calls, messages, browses, shops and takes the occasional photo. A few play games that are well-optimized to run on all handsets passingly in their space time. Cheap to buy, cheap to own, cheap to replace.

When the cheapest possible option ticks all of your boxes, why would you spend more? You wouldn't. That's what we're seeing here and I've absolutely first-hand noticed the difference selling smartphones 10 years ago to now. Night and day. Former flagship owners (S6, S7, S8) are now being priced out the market and the midrangers have come UP to meet them when they're ready to jump off at the £599 pricepoint.

Anonymous, 27 Jul 2023....???? And Samsung S-series is more popular than A series? Are you sure about that? The most popular Android smartphone of 2022 was the sub-$200 Galaxy A12. That pretty much says it all.

Here's a tip to bring back those lost sales on smartphones: Put back the headphone jack and microSD card slot. Contrary to what most SamApple knights think, there are still huge demand for smartphones with such relevant features. I myself have now totally valued such feature when shooting 4K/120fps videos on my Sony Xperia 1 iv using my Rode microphone. There's absolutely no way I can get the microphone functioning with my old Samsung S22 Ultra, even with a dongle. Going wireless is not and never has been the direct replacement.

                            Ah, finally... The Truth.
"I told you so" is in order here...

I guess is normal something like this if Samsung rebrand the 2 year old devices and sale as last ones with few, small improvements! They even removed the charger from the box!Now Chinese brands offer a good quality, inovations for a good price! Why should we chose Scamsung?!No more !!!

Samsung doesn't provide charger in the box and charger is only 25 watt support for mid range , no cover, and old design in mid range smart phone with high price and no snapdragon only Exynos , no curved display in mid range series mobile ,where as other brand provide almost everything with a reasonable price ..This can lead to degrade the profits..

That's what you get of you partner against the biggest market in the world. If Reuters rumour is correct, this trend will continue for Samsung.
PS removing chargers, cases, cables, screen protection, keeping a slow charging, huge bezels, camera problems in s22 and s23 series, all this affect sales. Also, as stated up, acting against China, 1.3 billion, for the sake of 300million in USA, will affect outcomes. Now SK are against Russia also which will lead to an increase in prices for the materials and energy. Good luck with that also.
