I'm not criticizing the phone or what but this Sony-only 3 months gaps between unveiling and shipping is the most laughable thing in the tech world.

    good evening i am using sony xperia 1 mark ii phone.before i used sony xperia 1.they proudly say its a 4k hdr oled dosplay but actually its not.not at all .its all the time kept to full hd which is horable ..what ever app u use what ever u do every thing will be shown in full hd even not in 2k ..what a shame sony..why u are fooling the people..??.the 4k display will be pop up only when u are using youtube but with limitations.. the limit is that the video must be in 4k resolution and it hould be played back in 4k than only the display will be pop up to 4k.and 2nd most important thing they dont have any vivid mode option in display so the colors are very dull worst then even a 100 buks android phone..and 1 last thing they are proudly offering head phone jack but sound quality is very low and even the volume is very low too ..

        I dislike their choice of SOC in the 10 V and their unreliable update policy. 5 years is a must as I used my two old phones as long as that and even more. And I value security. It will be even more important in the future.

        Their form factor is great as I can reach the whole keyboard with my thumb. Yes, I prefer to use my phone one-handed. Otherwise I use a tablet. It's just stupid to use a 6.7" phone as a tablet substitute.

        Headphone jack and SD card are great if you're going to remote places without internet connection. I can't rely on cloud services because of that.

        Sony phones aren't perfect but they offer a real alternative. Yeah, prices are a bit too high but there's plenty of options for people who don't like headphone jacks and SD card slots or no camera hole in the screen. Don't cry around here, gsmarena offers a search option for you ;-)

          I honestly read every comment in this series. I agree with much of it and disagree with much of it. My biggest concern nobody mentioned here...yet. I am very sad they removed the notification LED...stupid move Sony...lost a sale due to this alone! However, the other two concerns I have are what I have watched on YouTube and read in other reviews that the screen locks up/freezes at random with ghost taps on various icons...maybe an update will fix this? Also, the fingerprint sensor (I do not like side mounted ones) is flaky and sometimes doesn't work??? Again. possibly all fixable with an update. While not the most expensive phone on the market it still is OVER $1500.00 (including TAX) for something that needs more polish AND longer support for sure. So while I want the hardware (don't need all that camera software crap) I am sticking with my Pixel 7 Pro (waiting for the 8 Pro) and loving my Android 14.2 BETA (running smooth) and it will be hard to pull me away as long as Google keeps their superior dialer phone app exclusive to the Pixels. Once you use their phone app and see how well it eliminates SPAM calls you will not want to go back! YMMV

              What samsung and xiaomi fanboys demand sony to do:

              - use curved screen with lower quality like s23u and mi13 ultra, with also low flickering , bad calibration and uneven brightness
              - remove second front speaker and put it beside usb
              - make UI colorful and iOS wannabe
              - decrease quality of video recording , also use low bitrate, frame dropping and apply tons of sharpening to it, while not being able to record for more than 25 min.
              - make HDR default, no matter the fact is gonna ruin photos of moving subjects.
              - sell it for $600 , despite this is less than it costs to be made
              - remove jack and micro sd slot
              - make sim tray only removable with tool, same way they copied from iphone

                  $1400?! What?! This seems kinda crazy...If Sony at least did some good trade in deals like Samsung, One Plus, Apple, I'd be less upset at that price tag. Sony doesn't even include a charger and the usb-c cable anymore. It's literally just a phone in a box with nothing else inside...

                  Man I really wish LG was still in the mobile market. LG phones were literally the perfect phones. Had everything the Samsung phones had but at like 2/3rd the price while also including high quality headphone jacks with Quad Dacs and MicroSD card slots in their phones.

                      Except screen and camera other things are jokes. No way it is better than a Samsung flagship especially software and updates.

                        TheSnowWinterR7, 29 Jul 2023Yet, professional photographers I know prefer Sony's s... moreyes, it has alpha characteristics which pro photographers are used to, but that is all. image quality isn't even close to alpha cameras. huawei phones are the best for me. natural images with true colors, no oversharpening and great telephoto and macro capabilities. sony xperia has mediocre image quality with little detail but still nice colors. it is full of different settings that do no change to the resulting image and most of those settings will never be used because phone cameras are there to be immediately usable with all the necessary settings being done automatically by the system. a professional photographer is only focused on taking photos and therefore has more time to prepare. but anyways, he will never leave his camera for a phone. and the greatest advantage phones have over cameras, the great display, is not represented in xperia phones with their super narrow and therefore super small 21:9 display.

                              Sony cant force 3rd party apps at 4K, only their own.

                              Downscaling to 1096p is same trick other call "changing resolution" aka placebo mode.
                              Does not help saving power, otherwise 1 and 5 series would last almost the same.
                              All brands fool clients with this option.

                                Sales: Xperia is available in most of Europe, USA, China, Japan, Taiwan, HK, Malaysia always. Usually in Thailand and Singapore. Sony is studying if it is worth to come back to Australia.

                                Software : budget phone business has does not allow more. Samsung Mobile makes almost as much money of whole Sony Group. About 30x more than Xperia. Impossible. Same applies to Asus, HTC, Meizu, Zte. Even HMD stopped giving 3 years as promised in early years.

                                Accessories : on sony website. You can get charger, cables, cases, vlogging monitor, vlogging gimbal. External microphones can be any brand (plug to jack or usb).

                                Screen: higher resolution than any other. Same 120Hz, better calibration (far ahead samsung phones), higher flickering than galaxy (at least 50% more), less reflective, higher brightness uniformity, no cutout, no useless curves
