Samsung quietly disabled the feature without telling anyone.

No different folding/rolling factors to change that either. I bet they could bring satisfactory phone even now.

Maybe hdr but even that is available in hi res if you turn it on. As for difference in dynamic range even after that, it depends on the scene and processing of each device. I also tend to edit raws, what helps too.
If someone compares auto output or special features without looking at overall capabilities, it surely may look like nothing great. A lot depends on the user and his needs.

Anonymous, 30 Jul 2023As a content creator filming 8k 30 fps and then downscaling... moreA lot of content creators (not all as some use smartphones) on YouTube use proper cameras 📷 or a video camera 📹 to record the content. And they record in 4K as it is better video quality than shooting 8K 👍🏾

To get the equivalent or better video quality than 4K you would need to spend a absolute fortune on a very expensive digital camera or video camera 👌🏾

Come back in 6 or 7 years when 8K video recording quality on a smartphone actually matches the 4K video recording quality on a smartphone 👍🏾

Smartphones set the default to 12MP/12.5MP as it produces much better photo quality pixel binned 4 times (16 times in Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra case) to 12MP/12.5MP.

The sensors are just too tiny even the 1 inch sensor in the Xiaomi 13 Ultra, Oppo Find X6 Pro, Vivo X90 Pro+ to produce good quality picture's in their 50MP mode without any pixel binning!

Anonymous, 30 Jul 2023Meanwhile, LG V60 can steadily record 8K/30fps HDR10 video.... moreYeah, the V60 is still a crazy beast to own in 2023. LG left the game with a huge bang, and I still miss them a lot in the smartphone market. To this day, there's still no flagship phone with a 3.5mm headphone jack alongside built-in Quad DAC, microSD card slot, stylus support, optional detachable Dual Screen screen case support, and wired video output with Desktop Mode capability. Only Sony comes close to it, but you do have to sacrifice the stylus, the Quad DAC, the Dual Screen case, and Desktop Mode.

Android phones need better CPU's and GPU's... Like TetraDeca Core 2x5.1 Ghz, 4x4.4Ghz, 4x3.2Ghz 4x2.4Ghz with GDDR6XXX Ram. Then, you can record Videos on Half Crop Image Sensors with 16K 120 Hz. Videos.

Anonymous, 30 Jul 2023no its not.... its kind stupid when you playing 8k content ... moreWell, I do not as I use it for stills mostly. But considering quality of video/stills on the phones, you will get more detail when downsized as compared to shooting low res straight.

Anonymous, 30 Jul 20234k for social media is somewhat pointless, depends on what ... moreYeah, 4k is manageable on social media, but 8k? Nah, I ain't browsing TikTok on a 54-inch 8k TV with HDR10+, HDR10, and Dolby Vision. So, what's the point of 8k recording? Compression will just kill the quality of 8k anyway to look like 1440p with a lower bitrate

People blaming Samsung instead of the obvious elephant in the room... tsk, its hilarious.

This is YOUR fault for trying to always be "up to date" as if you feel more "secure" that way, as if that will save you from stuff like this.

And this is the same people who will go to other articles and say stuff like "No one uses anything below android 7".

Hope you learned your lesson, fools.

Low quality 8K still gets mote detail than 4K, only few know the importance and how awesome it is to have something like that in such pocketable "cheap" device, the rest is happy with 4K lol.

who'd need 8K at high bitrate currently anyway. Besides, 8k from the S23 Ultra is not gonna be overall better than the iPhone. Samsung's ugly oversharpening.....

Maybe some people missing Motomods which could make pretzty impressive devices at that time and even now if they would continue with them.
But evolving and developing motomods which were barelly selling is pointless and it would make a big downfall for company like Motorola or Lenovo.
So if they did not want end like LG they went away from Motomods and Motorolas with pins capable of using said Motomods.
But SHatterproof glass is omething i really miss. At its time it were way more durable than Gorrila glass.

by the time files uploaded to social-media platform, it compress all images and video
