Ice Universe: the Samsung Galaxy S24 and S24+ will have LTPO displays

01 August 2023
Samsung has been using LTPO panels on the Ultra models since the S21 generation, but the two smaller models stuck with old school panels.

Anonymous, 01 Aug 2023I want S24 more compact or at least the same as s22 or s23 ... moreYeah totally agree. Its insane how "left out" regular S23 and S23+ feels compared to Ultra. I remember when Galasy S7 Edge had nice QHD screen and it wasnt that huge. Also curved display was quite nice.

Like everybody doesnt want to have HUGE brick in their pockets. Light and small compact would be so good. Also hope there would be good telephoto lens. That would be perfect phone then for me.

Curved Display looks premium and immersive maybe they can make the same 6.1 inch phone with a subtle curve so it feels much more compact. Moto edge 40 which has a 6.55 inch screen has a width of 72 mm but 6.1 inch s23 has a width of 70.6 mm, usage of curved display will reduce it to 69 mm perhaps and feel more compact.

But the Z flip series already have LTPO, right? Flip 5 got LTPO 3.0 (1-120hz) based on reviews

blue, 01 Aug 2023A lot of nonsense you write. It does seem like nonsense for someone who cannot read or have kindergarten reading level. My bad.

GSMarena continues to regurgitate the LTPO = variable refresh rate koolaid. I'm not sure where that nonsense started but it's been repeated by so many outlets it's considered a "fact". Guess all those laptops supporting variable refresh rates without LTPO over the last decade are from another dimension?

I want S24 more compact or at least the same as s22 or s23 but with qhd screen and 12gb ram.
8gb ram and FHD screen are for A5 series.

Anonymous, 01 Aug 2023Did Apple really make that tech or they buy someone who inv... moreLet me quote this from Wikipedia:

"Low-temperature polycrystalline oxide (LTPO) is a type of OLED display backplane technology developed by Apple that combines both LTPS TFTs and Oxide TFTs (indium gallium zinc oxide, or IGZO). In LTPO, the switching circuits are using LTPS while the driving TFTs use IGZO materials.[17] LTPO allows for more efficient use of power by dynamically adjusting the refresh rate of the screen based on the content being displayed. This means that the screen can operate at a low refresh rate when displaying static images or text, but can ramp up to a higher refresh rate when displaying dynamic content like videos or games. LTPO displays are known for their improved battery life and can be found in some smartphones, smartwatches, and other mobile devices.[18]

Although the core technology in LTPO is developed by Apple, Samsung also has its proprietary technology for LTPO AMOLED panels using a combination of LTPS TFTs and hybrid-oxide and polycrystalline silicon (HOP).[19]"

Can you see it mentioned Apple as the one who developed the LTPO?? Are you still want to be undeniable and bigotry?? 🙄🤦🏻‍♂️

Mr. Anonymous, 01 Aug 2023I hope they keep the same size for S24 screen, keep it flat... morei think there were some rumors it will stay flat but screen size will go from 6.6 to 6.65 as the bezels will become even slimmer

Anonymous, 01 Aug 2023LTPO is Apple tech (Apple made that tech). So, technically ... moreDid Apple really make that tech or they buy someone who invented it ? And while there are like LG and Samsung that actually are making screens so i would think that one of these 2 made the tech and Apple had it's first right to use it or something

It's basically like there bionic chip that is made by Qualcomm or something based on the specs Apple orders to make there chip as there probably wont be a point to make a chip factory that do only apple devices parts.

As for apple they have always used other people innovation and inventions by just buying them and then implement these tech in there devices.

As i understand the LTPO is basically still a version of AMOLED screen so saying that Apple invented it makes it like they invented AMOLED screens or everything about screens.

DarlingYext, 01 Aug 2023I have every right to disagree with you or anyone else and ... moreThe bizarre behaviour of yours is because you do not disagree with opinion, but with facts that are 100% proven.

LTPO was created by Apple for their watches. No matter how much you want to believe it was created by Samsung Display, because it was not.

" Low-Temperature Polycrystalline Oxide, or LTPO, is an OLED display backplane technology developed by Apple. LTPO combines both LTPS TFTs and Oxide TFTs (IGZO, Indium Gallium Zinc Oxide). LTPO is applicable for both OLED and LCD displays, actually, but this backplane technology is likely to be used exclusively in high-end OLED displays"

                              https://www.oled-info.com/ltpo

LYT800 (aka imx888) was created for Xperia. It is exclusive.
Any other brand that wants similar, needs to order another sensor based on it that sony semicon is gonna give another name and do some modifications as client wants.
Some sensors have temporary exclusivity, while other are forever. You do not see sensor of main camera of iphone on other phones, camera of galaxy S on other phones, same for xperia and sometimes huawei.

Does not matter how loud is your scandal, inside vivo will not be imx888.
                              Deal with it. Grow up.

Why do you want to take away the only decent size smarthphone ? Are you that selfish ? For myself i would like a 5 inch screen small with qhd resolution but i know that i can t have that. You can choose Plus version ( Plus has the same specs , the only difference is the size ) . You can choose Ultra if you want top version , or A series for mid range , probably even FE Version. How selfish can you be if you want to take the 1% cusmoters that want decent size smartphone.
