Discoverdoe, 07 Aug 2023Dis. If Asus was as good as samsung 4/5 years of support... moreNot ok. Unlocked bootloader means unrootable phone, hence no Adaway hence unusable phones. Who cares about updates, these hardly fix anything. Look at forums, how many bugs people report and how many actually get fixed after all these years of updates. If updates can't fix bugs what's the point?

The article is about not being able to unlock bootloader, but why on earth are you only complaining about lack of updates instead of mentioned issue?

So now there are only three manufacturers left that allow users to unlock bootloader: Google Pixel, Xiaomi and Samsung. What a time to be alive.

To this, the entire world smartphone market is filled with compromises.

Don't get me started on Fairphone and Purism. Fairphone removed the headphone jack permanently on current and future models and Purism will scam you on their refund policy.

Reply on any brand and I'll ROAST the heck out of it. For example if you say Samsung or Apple: 'Oh man, not those conglomerates who turned their home countries into high tech dystopia.'

Also, allegedly ASUS Germany's support linked someone a random website when they asked how to unlock the bootloader of the Zenfone 10. The site said to use Mi Unlock.

What? only 2 years Android update and now cannot unlock bootloader. Stuck on Android update after 2 years. It's gonna be boomerang for Asus by doing so.

It's ASUS, I assume this is something that'll probably be backtracked or isn't happening due to ASUS having awful PR.

If it's not, this is probably the worst decision they could've made. How does this benefit ASUS in any way? All they're going to do is lose sales.

Welp! There goes one of my goto android phone with unlockable bootloader down the trash bin. 🤬

A lot of smartphones don't allow unlock of bootloaders. Probably warranty issues they don't want to deal with.

They are literally shooting themselves in the foot. Their poor update policy was at least salvageable by the easy bootloader unlock process.
