On my Poco F5 for example I can download and install the update in around 5 or 6 minutes whereas the Pixel takes nearly an hour to perform the same task. Both phones require a reboot after installing but on the F5 that only takes a minute or two and even that is a fraction of the time that the Pixel takes to do the same. In context, I can update the F5 in the time it takes to shower but with the Pixel I can shower, get dressed, eat breakfast and drive to work and it still hasn't finished updating.
To state that you can use your Pixel while it is updating doesn't make sense to me, surely people can live without their phone switched on for 10 minutes?

You are not supposed to just stay and stare at the installation progress bar.

I downloaded the August update this morning and it took over an hour to install and reboot. Is this a new record or has it taken longer for anyone else?

Stephen, 08 Aug 2023Are these phones great to have.i am interlectuly slow.only ... moreI believe the Google Pixel 6a will be down to $199 in the USA very soon so IMO that is the easiest recommendation for a phone I could ever make.

I have a Pixel 6a (unlocked), and I received the August security update for 2023 yesterday (8/07/23). I am in the USA. It Did not take me 'weeks' to receive the update like this post mentions.

Stephen, 08 Aug 2023Are these phones great to have.i am interlectuly slow.only ... moreThe problem with Google Pixels is that the quality control is subpar vs the other major manufacturers and design flaws become well known soon after release. E.g. camera lens cracks, devices bricking, etc.
If there was more focus on quality control they would be hard to beat.
