It is called Beeper, and while in Beta, it is the first to bring Google's SMS alternative to iOS.

Anonymous, 21 Aug 2023Beeper is subscription-based, right?Used to be. It's free now as it uses The Matrix protocol (open-source). It claims to make every one of these messaging programs it supports end-to-end encrypted (at the moment, it technically decrypts messages for a split second as it goes through their servers to get re-encrypted via the respective programs as that's the only way it can support all this). This even includes SMS. It will get much easier March of next year once that law in Europe goes into effect.

Apple should make iMessage and Facetime available on Android and charge for it. Apple would make lots of money and Android users don't have to buy an iPhone.

Bossu, 21 Aug 2023Well, we need to wait and see maybe Apple dismiss that app ... moreMore likely for Apple to say "See, there's your RCS support. No need for Apple to implement it. Customers who need it can get it from our store"

Well, we need to wait and see maybe Apple dismiss that app and saying something bad about it to make people not install it.

Even tho Apple users only cares about iMessages anyways. (2 biased people, they dont est any other fruit).

And yes, this RCS was defined & is run by them, at least in the US. The network carriers have nothing to do with them. They only enable support but have no control over it

onother Google project that will take a place on Google's cemetery.

Yeah, RCS via Google messages is still not available yet. According to their blog updates though, they intend on getting that support.

I'm still waiting for the 48 hour burn time to pass through to test iMessage on it. This app is seriously a Godsend in terms of hooking everything up together.

Oh wow, never saw this feature before.

I dont get what is the big deal and drama with RCS ? There are hundreds of messaging apps like whasapp which is supported by both android and ios, just use those.
