Also, this claim IS an advertisement, this is enticing buyers to buy this product because they'd feel assured that their phone will last a longer time in terms of its software, thus they're trying to use it to sell this product.

Anonymous, 22 Aug 2023Yes exactly that's why I am using Google Pixel 7 pro. ... morethat's their problem, not mine. I'm paying the same amount for the phones, so why should I get an overall inferior experience with the software? Software is just as important as hardware I'd say. Take a look at PS5 and its insane exclusives and the Xbox Series X which has more power but nearly no exclusives. Or even the Google Pixel devices in the past, the way they took advantage of their camera hardware

Anonymous, 23 Aug 2023Expectation: 4 Android OS upgrades, monthly security patche... moreGo cry to google and have them give the manufacturers a significant piece of the google play store cake. After all, google wouldn't have their reach and market share without them.

Monthly security updates costs money, as does several android OS upgrades.
Pixels and iphones have continuous revenue from their app stores, Xiaomi and others can't come close to this, hence they have to bake inn all future support in the sale price of each device and still compete on price.

I have the Mi 11, a three year old device, and it still gets security updates and android 14 is in beta. Not bad for an old device that didn't come with any particular promise like the more recent 11T series did, and newer. Keep in mind this came before Xiaomi announced a their (at the time new, now old) 3 OS and 4 years security updates about 10 months after this phone launched.

So for my phone, they are already over delivering and I see no reason to doubt the other firm promises made.

                That quickly

Check with snoopsnitch, most China OS devices post fake security patch levels, and with fake I don't mean they leave out patches but they only include a few patches every 6 months or so while updating the claimed security patch level much more often. That's why on Chinese phones especially you want an actual android upgrade because that's the only security for actually receiving security updates.

That's good but the question is will their phones' motherboard actually last that long to have it's fourth OS update

47cosmos, 23 Aug 20239200+ VS. 8Gen2 which 1 has better power efficiency/battery Overall from the Chinese reviews which show battery life it seems that the snapdragon 8 gen 2 has better battery life as the K60 pro with snapdragon 8 gen 2 outlasts the k60 ultra/supreme edition in nearly all the reviews that have battery rankings. Both have the same size 5,000mAh battery. Both chips are reasonably good for efficiency though considering the performance they are offering.

MIUI upgrade =/= Android OS upgrade.

Also 5 years support is not meaningful enough, if the security patches was only given every 3-6 months.

Monthly security patches for the first 4 years is MANDATORY.

The question is, how often? Samsung flagships and A5x series get MONTHLY security patches, and often beat Google Pixel in delivery times as well. Can Xiaomi deliver the same? If it's just quarterly, then it only matches the Samsung mid-rangers update policy (non A5x models, M series, etc).

Oh, and it's easy for Xiaomi to make this promise on their Chinese model because they don't have GMS, thus they simply bypass Google's certification process. Xiaomi should look in the mirror first, for shipping new handsets in 2023 with Android 11 and 12.

If your research outcome is, "hey, this brand doesn't seem to care about the post purchase experience for me, I like it!", you are not a real person.

Timely and secure software updates on a device costing a grand isn't a privilege, it is a right.

These Chinese brands consistently makes these fake announcements attached to specific models. They never keep their promises. Avoid them like the plague. That is research done right.

That's what you expect when you have so many phone lineups in a Phone company and since Camera is not the focus of Redmi K60 Pro. I would expect the same with Redmi K60 Ultra but at least they would give you high end hardware and promised software support in return for a fraction of price of a proper flagship. If you really want better software experience then look for phone companies like Nothing, Google and Apple.
