Weekly poll: do you use a screen protector and a case?

27 August 2023
Some people carry their phone with no extra protection, others feel safer with a protector. Some see cases as a style add-on, others as unnecessary bulk.

justasmile, 27 Aug 2023You bought many, but do they include Xiaomi and Oppo phones?Yes, I have bought probably over 10 Xiaomi phones between 2018 and 2020 and 1 Realme (Oppo) phone in 2021. Literally no phone that I have bought from either of these companies came with a pre-applied screen protector.

I'm currently using a 340K AnTuTu phone which is fast (I've updated the Android 2 times).. now 4 Gen 2 can get a 430K which only sells for around $100 Redmi 12 5G It means it's faster than my phone now.

my little sister is using SD685 (330K AnTuTu) and i have tried it and that phone feel smooth.

True, $200 would be better... Now the Galaxy A34 is available for only $250 GSMArena has reviewed it and the phone is smooth, snappy and responsive. So what is 8 Gen 3 for?

I don't have a screen protector because my case goes a bit over the screen in case of a drop.

I use a relatively thin case because my phone is already a 6.8" screen diagonal behemoth, and I don't want to make it much larger.

Case with rubber, say no to silicone. Im using Xundd.
Too bad no more pre installed film protector from S22 series. The 1 samsung selling is expensive & not easy to install.

Once my screen protector layer got scratch from the finger from constant gaming, so i removed it, had been running naked for a year afterward. i got a few scratches on the glass after falling it on the floor facedown, the phone survived (i still use case) but could be some kind of mineral dust on the floor that able to leave scratches on the glass, for my new phone i would still recommend have screen protector on, better than hurting the glass.

Nillkin glass protector and Ringke rugged case.
My phone is almost 5 years old, looks like new.
If I am gonna be paying a (absurdly massive asking) price of 300€+ for a phone then I sure as hell am gonna protect it the best way I can. Not all are millionaires like the GSMarena members.

Also, alot of you don't get physics, doesn't matter what kind of glass it is, the important thing ist the angle and force at wich it lands on something. Even bulletproofglass breaks, think about it

Case is a must but screen protector kind of useless these days, with all that unscratchable glass, no point., Unless you afraid to smash it and use hard plastic one is the option, but when you have this bulging plastic crap on screen and it's not so smooth for touching.

I bought cheap phones. Even though those are cheap, I want them to last as long as possible. I want to avoid paying more from broken screens and back covers. Screen and back cover replacement for cheap phones are cheap (naturally), but it still wastes time and money for the repair. Using screen protectors and cases cost less and is less time consuming. I don't expect great designs and brilliant screens from cheap phones, so they won't interrupt the usage that much. I prefer practicality and usability more than looks. If the case is bulky, then that's fine to me, either I use it as it is or simply use the phone less. Cheap phones typically doesn't have an on screen fingerprint, so any cheap screen protectors should work too. We may rarely drop our phones, but when it actually drops, it sucks. It happened to me before, I had a case and a screen protector at home but was lazy to use it, then that one time when I went out, my phone slipped from my pocket and got the screen shattered. I had to waste my time and money to get the screen replaced. I use phone everyday and when it's not there, it makes the life harder. So I believe that we want what we use everyday to last long, cases and screen protectors are one way to make sure it last long, even when it makes the phone uglier. There are other ways, like simply using the phone carefully, etc. But you can't find faults from others who simply want extra protection.

Corning gorilla glasses are mistaken to be durable; unbreakable cover layers while in reality they easily shatter at any fall on a hard surface. They are actually resistant to minor scratches like pen, finger or fingernail scratches etc.I use external protective glasses & covers to protect my smartphones since my last experience.
