Weekly poll: do you use a screen protector and a case?

27 August 2023
Some people carry their phone with no extra protection, others feel safer with a protector. Some see cases as a style add-on, others as unnecessary bulk.

Accidents happen ..resale value you should least tempered glass. Or wallet. I prefer Wallet because I can keep Visa card in it and then no need for tempered glass. Guess depends what phone flagship yes, budget doesn’t matter I’d just use tempered glass on budget one .

I'm a slightly clumsy guy. Putting the phone on so many heights and not knowing where I put it. Although I like the design bare, protecting it is a priority as to maintain it for longer. Plus, it's always satisfying when I open the case and see how pristine it is.

Cases aren't just protection, they often add a lot of utility. Extra holes for a wrist loop/lanyard, built-in phone stands, slim wallets, etc. And most of them add much more grip than your usual aluminum/glass.

Pretty much everyone i see who doesn't use a case has a cracked screen. Hope they learned their lesson... or have money to burn.

It’s excellent to have factory-applied screen protectors and I always keep them.

The cases are a mixed bag, as they make the phone thicker and bulkier, but the silicone ones from the packaging are very welcome, useful and practical.

AnonD-546724, 27 Aug 2023Well maybe because its design ain't made to be dropped... moreI've been running caseless for years now. I also don't use screen protectors.

If you learn better handling discipline you won't need to rely on cases so much. It's simple, but not easy!

Gorilla glass is so good these days, I never scratch my phones so there's little need to apply one.

Caseless since 2019. OnePlus 7T, OnePlus 8T, Google Pixel 7 Pro. None of these phones have ever hit the ground or had their screens scratched.

My phone is an Infinix Zero 5G 2023. While not a super-expensive phone, it's not one that's readily available in the U.S, it's not like I can just go to T-Mobile or Best Buy and get another one if something happens to it. It makes total sense for me to have a screen protector and case, as I'm not so sure that phone repair places here would be familiar with my particular brand.

I use a cheap tpu-case, that is all the protection phones need! Gorilla glass is so good today that there is no need at all for any additional screen protector!

Yes I do everyone should as it protects smartphone from getting broken it's important remember phone are made with glass in general soild plastic screen protector and case is best

My advice is use plastic screen protector solid plastic then second layers just flexible plastic screen protector and plastic case just buy cheap ones pack of 5 there isn't any benefit too premium screen protector

I dont usually use screen protecting extra glass but as my phone had some screen protection film on it so i left it on and also the case it come with.

Sux that the case is just transparent as i would like it to be something like smoked black or something as my last phone had the silicon case like that and aliexpress dont sell these with black color. I am a smoker so the transparent case in some period of time will turn yellow/brown

Well with my last phone the case was needed as without it the phone matte color and aluminum build was just slippery so the silicon case was needed

With my new phone the transparent case seem to be good enough to not buy new one as well there is no case i like also

There are all types of color transparent but not in black or there are just edges in black and the rear is transparent that is useless and then there are these ugly honey comb versions that also make the phone a lot larger.

There actually was one case i was interested as it had a slide to cover camera in the rear but then it also had the credit card holder that makes the case even larger

                            Do I use a case ? I mean, of course I do

Phones these days are so expensive yet so fragile
Applying cases is tr only option otherwise I'd be breaking the display every other week and getting it repaired that will cost me all my life savings and also old age pension just to have it fixed 20 times a year

Since your phone is in your hand all the time, IT WILL FALL, that's inevitable. When you spent 4 figures on a shiny new phone, you don't went dents or cracks on it, so you put a case on it. Period. Don't be silly.

Apple Rules, 27 Aug 2023case yes, screen protector never. I've never had a sc... moreIs it a point of pride to be wasteful? I don't get that mentality. Like if you *must* use your phone lacking some protections, it's not fair to judge people using more.

My main reason is because glass scratches easy - frankly, gorilla glass is full of s***, I've never trusted it - and even if it's cruddy film, that's a $1 to replace. Etched glass? You have te pay to get a new one.

Like screw moh scale ratings, if this glass was so darn good, why do so many people walk around with vandalized phones? It's pretty clear at the barest minimum it's not life-proof. So scratches and permanent marks are a given - but the solution to sparing yourself is so laughably cheap, why not?

Glass has never interfered with my use. I would love if they started making those protectors in a matte variant, but I can deal.

Anyway, you do you, but it just seems like it's gonna suck when you probably have that accident, y'know, tripping or something, and you're on the hook to either suffer or replace/repair, which costs hundreds of times more than a basic protector.

At least you use a case, which is good. But I'm just gonna say anyone trusting their phone glass for scratches at a minimum is faaaaaar too optimistic.
