Weekly poll: do you use a screen protector and a case?

27 August 2023
Some people carry their phone with no extra protection, others feel safer with a protector. Some see cases as a style add-on, others as unnecessary bulk.

case yes, screen protector never. I've never had a scratch on the screen. whether iPhone or Android. I feel sorry for people who use something like this, mostly they are elderly people, or poor people with third world androids.

The back is plastic, frame is plastic even buttons are plastic. Sim tray as well, all plastic. And OnePlus had the audacity to remove metal frame from a flagship as well (9)
They wanna position bits of metal as a premium feature reserved for flagships

Absolutely. It's brainless not to - there's a reason you see so many cracked and ruined phones. Smart $1000 ya got there.

$8 on eBay to keep my phone in more or less perfect condition? Or risk repairs that even executed on your own start at over $60 for the common parts?

Like it's not something I respect, if you have money to piss away breaking things, it just shows you're clumsy and can't do math.

Barring fingerprints, I could hand you my LG Nexus 4 and you could not tell it wasn't brand new. Same story for all my devices. Even my LG G8X ThinQ... I have dropped that more times than I care to count, but the screen is still pristine and the body without cracks and chips.

I cannot understand what is so glorious about a naked phone that it's worth a fairly likely repair when a phone runs $750 for most decent ones.

Hell, really pimp it out - $11 on AliExpress, and you can get yourself a custom case.

The singular exception might be for curved bezel screens because it can be nightmarishly hard to get tempered glass on properly - but that's also a reason I do everything possible not to buy such phones.

Finally GSMARENA is doing this poll. Thanks for reading my comments on S24Ultra Flat Screen on your website. I got good results on reddit where I asked many galaxy users to vote if they want to have a flat screen on s24Ultra and not curve due to no tempered glass protection and curve display not useful for spen use.

I use a matel case you build up but due to the phone screen being curved it makes it impossible for a glass screen protector to say on for months at a time so I have to use these hydrogel screen protectors

It has become worse, because altho the glass maker makes it better every time, phone manufacturers have thin it down every time, to make their device slimmer and lighter. Flagships likely have a thin layer of it and ironically are the worst at falls

Yes I use both, its literally a no brainer.
I also sell my phones and so I use them for 12 months and want the highest possible return on my purchase to get a new model, so having a case and a screen protector fitted saves it from getting any damage, I am also on my phone or interacting with it at work all day, I game on it, I take thousands of photos, I spotify, social media, travel booking, watching media, and so all it takes is one accidental drop and thats potentially £700 lost or significantly reduced. and for what? a £10 case and £5 piece of glass extra, Ive learned the hard way.

Let's face it, with camera bumps and everyone wanting glass backs to slurp on while being as thin as paper, phones have gotten way more fragile than in the past.

If I'm putting in loads of money on a phone, is getting a case and screen protector DAY 1; no excuses or questions asked.

Granted, if you have insurance or your phone is only like $200, then it's worth not putting anything on it but I would never take a massive investment like a phone for granted.

                                      I dont use any, because

Have a very bad ocd. No matter how full, how premium it feels, and how precise the screen protector. It never stop bugging me once i see or feel the edge of it. Yeah i know, for some people it is not a problem. But for me, nah. I'm good.

For the case, i don't use one because i just like the premium feel my phone give. And if i ever use case, i only buy real leather flip case or full metal bumper case. If there is no such case available, i prefer not having a case rather than having that cheapy silicone or plastic case.

And thanks god, all my phones never heavely damaged body nor screen. Yeah, but maybe i should use those to prevent such a thing 😥
