It's great that these bank account selectors only consider iPhone owners to be worthy partners because they aren't worthy spouses.

The rumours were fake, I just saw Asus isn't closing Zenfone which I'm actually glad since ROG phones are so ugly (even if Zenfones aren't really great phones)

It's like Canon and Olympus that do the professional cameras. Also for Sony they have Japan market with loyal customer base and they even made a compact phone for only Japan market on the budget range. While Sony is well known brand and really old brand. Even my country have it's shops in here while my country size dont make any sense to even have market in here with something 1.4 million people in population

Then sales of ... moreApple would probably go full monopoly in the world when they would have budget phones also in there devices list and also middle class and i am not talking about hardware on this as for apple there budget phones price means starting from 500 euro or something on the lines.

Apple have monopoly in US as they have 58% of US market. If they would have phones that are in the bottom like 200 euro and middle class 300-400 euro phones then they would probably dominate most of the world market cause Apple devices are status symbol.
In US are the type of people who dont even date people who have android and look down on people who have android cause of the apple status symbol as if you dont have apple device your not even a human to them

potato4k, 29 Aug 2023LOL. You think Asus had that kind of money? Again, the Chin... moreWhy dont Asus have the money ? they have done computer hardware decades before Xiaomi for example started to make phones and now they do pretty much everything you can imagine. Asus is known for motherboards and graphics cards and they should of done a lot of profit especially on the time when the mining started and made the graphics cards prices go up 10 fold that should be like serious profit when you use to get GTX970 for 300-400 euro and then something like 2070 went to like 1500 euro in price cause of miners buy all the cards in the market and demand went insane up. It's not like the cost to make the cards went that much up out of the blue.

Also they should of take tips from BBK and Xiaomi to sell at first on low profit if any profit to create there customer base who be loyal to them for life with low price good specs phones and sell them in China and India that are 2 biggest market in the world as the 2 biggest countries in the world where both have 1.4 billion in population.

But Asus already was a brand name and they wanted to use it and get the max profit from the start. You know Gigabite is also a motherboard and graphics card brand and they also wanted to make phones and nothing much come out of it while that brand is older then Asus. I use to build my PC on gigabite motherboards mostly and later with ewither Asus or AsRock and so on cheaper brands. MSI even is older then Asus and also does the motherboards and graphics cards and have there gaming products. While Asus mostly is only gaming product so there main customers are gamers so they want to get the max profit out of them

I also dont care about updates and when i buy budget to middle class phones i dont expect to even have lots of updates. But when i buy a flagship phone then i expect long term updates for at least security updates as that is the flagship experience that you pay more for

Chaos X 1982, 29 Aug 2023They need to go back with putting SD card slots on ZenFones... moreTrue. I had a Zenfone 6 and it was awesome. I kept using it until the memory fried early this year (so try using higher quality components, Asus). The rotating camera was genius and the micro SD provided storage for a LOT of media.

Not a fan, 29 Aug 2023You know they won’t They love to pretend they like small ... moreYou cant say there is no market and none of these brands can also say it when they have like minimum of 6.3 inch screens on there phones.
Never mind that only small phones are Apple standard iphone and SE and then Samsung S class standard phone that all are flagship with premium high price and these sell well that should show that even people with deep pockets want to have small phone if they buy these phones over cheaper larger phones.
While there is zero option for budget to middle class phones that are smaller.
Xiaomi Redmi had once a model with 5.45inch but with lots of bezels and the phone was like 150 euro with really meh hardware

So how or where they know what market wants if there is no smaller phones in the market share that is the largest as budget to middle class where more people can afford to buy the phones.

Only way to get a compact phone these days is to go with feature phones that dont have touchscreen and you cant do much more then only calls and sms text messages. And there are still brands who make feature phones as there still is market for them

They need to go back with putting SD card slots on ZenFones, the ZenFone 6 and 7 Pro were their most beloved products.

They didn't exactly refute it. What they essentially said was that you WERE RIGHT except we are still doing the zenfone phones... But.....

ishreal, 29 Aug 2023Please leave this site and never come back. You are not a t... moreYeah, it's sad that despite the seemingly many brands out there, there are only few companies left. In some markets, it's literally just Samsung and the trio Chinese (Xiaomi, BBK, Transsion). That's just bad for competition. Consumers might think there are a lot of choice between Oppo, Vivo, Realme, and OnePlus, but we should count them as one, BBK. It's worse that they all sometimes rely on the same ODM, resulting basically almost the same phone being rebranded dozens of times.

rizki1, 29 Aug 2023tell to him, he said Asus gets more money than Xiaomi, BBK ... moreWait, you are confused.

Let's say, Sony. I already said that the Chinese destroyed them in smartphone marketshare. HOWEVER, Sony still survives today making smartphones. Why? Because they exited the low end segment, and focus on ultra niche premium segment where the profit is better. That still doesn't mean they have more revenue overall, but they at least make enough profits to keep going. Asus seems to decide the same way with their ROG line. This is in contrast to your suggestion for Asus to go low end.

You are confused between revenue and margin.

Take the Chinese. They're dying themselves. Operating in low margins forever is not sustainable despite however many revenue you are making. That's why they all are doing foldables now, so they can sell higher margin products. Why do you think they do that if they were supposedly making "enough" money from selling cheap phones?

rizki1, 29 Aug 2023I am from Indonesia.Indonesian government required certain percentage of phones sold there to be sourced locally. Samsung and the Chinese set up assembling factories there. Sony, with the "wisdom" of Japanese management, panicked, didn't know what to do, and decided to just exit the market. So there's your answer on why Sony doesn't sell phones there anymore. Meanwhile, they're still selling smartphones in Singapore and Malaysia just fine.

So that's irrelevant to the discussion.

Anonymous, 29 Aug 2023Non-Chinese phones fell ? Since when Last time I checked... moreTechnically Samsung is the single largest brand worldwide yes, but BBK is a conglomerate with multiple brands. And reports that count BBK as one entity state that BBK is the largest smartphone manufacturer in the world by marketshare and sales. Which means China is the #1 smartphone leader globally.

Not a fan, 29 Aug 2023They should discontinue their mobile business altogether ... morePlease leave this site and never come back. You are not a true tech enthusiast if you know nothing about Asus mobile phone history and what they have contributed. And absolutely no tech fan would want less brands to compete in the market all together. What would GSMA report on? lol who on earth thinks less options is better?
