I am currently using an ROG Phone 2 and I never updated it for fear of planned obsolescence and bugs. I may be using an outdated Android 9 (Pie) but hey at least my phone software is still flawlessly smooth. I have learned from my previous phone (Nokia 7 plus) which suffered screen freezes and uneven flickering screen after I updated it to newer Android version.

And sell it in big countries like India and Indonesia. Marketing is also very influential, they can work with big YouTubers, one of the example. This is if their budget is big.

                The Zenfone 10 is cool, but there is no reason to buy it over the competition
                Xiaomi 13, iPhone 14, S23 - these are pretty much on par/better in most areas, and they around the same price
                So although people like the Zenfone 9/10 and received it well, they are not buying it because the competition is simply better, therefore its not selling well
                Regardless, I think Asus should continue making them

The Chinese pretty much decimated everybody else other than Samsung in the low end. Sony nearly died because they tried competing in this segment, so they wised up and went ultra premium and remains alive till this day.

                    Asus should make a low end Zenfone back.. and forget the high end that nobody cares.. Zenfone Max Pro M1 used to be pretty good (Already 8 million views on GSMArena specifications) and it's a competitor to the Redmi Note 5 when they were still going strong. But that year was so competitive that BBK made a new sub-brand, namely Realme. And Zenfone can't fight back.

                          Took long enough for small phones to finally dissappear. Vocal minority products don't sell well. Small phone users are basically just a vocal group of entitled midgets.

                                ROG phone buyers don't care about software support
                                Zenfone buyers don't buy it for long software support

                                And personally me, I am okay with 2 or 3 OS updates
                                Asus gives that already so no problems there ✌️

                                    They already can make a fantastic small phone (Zenfone 9)
                                    The only thing they need to do, is to make it again with mid-range specs. If they can bring that compact form at $500 or possibly even $400, then it is going to give a major boost to small phone sales. Apple does that (SE) and the result is, a bestseller small phone that they keep relaunching with new updated specs. Asus can do the same

                                      They should discontinue their mobile business altogether
