There are obviously big plans in the pipe for HarmonyOS that cannot be realised with Android code lurking at different levels.

In the meantime though, HarmonyOS will continue to support APK files.

    Is pending said score.

antutu score around 600k means which is a midrange performance for nowadays. too bad for the premium price

I am waiting for a day with no front cameras at all. Also no motorized cameras since it just adds cost. Under display camera? How about none.
But this... I hope nobody starts improving upon this idea by making 4 punch holes at each side of the screen.

Anonymous , 29 Aug 2023So bad for Harmony Os Next does not support apk Android fil... moreSeveral years ago google change the APK into AAB.
And maybe Huawei can't get the license for AAB.

Huawei also need to move on
So, stop supporting APK is one of the "move on"

Nothing more I hate than "face ID". Atleast the notch issue has been revamped, they're not so bad anymore.
There used to be a time when you could 3D "print" your face in a FIFA or another sports game. Would be nice if that had a better use other than to be a very security-flawed way to open a phone.

            Otherwise very interesting phone.

Huawei has been continuously pushing the envelope, where tech and features are concerned. Its variable aperture is a great improvement on Samsung's dual aperture. And its image quality is arguably second to none.
I am disappointed that image quality has peaked since the night photo and 10x zoom of Samsung. The whole 'smartphones will replace DSLRs' (now Mirrorless) ILCs, has gone bust. Looks like except dynakic range and low light, nothing in smartphones will rpslace much larger sensors, with much better optics. And Computational Photography Algorithms have also not helped in creating detail in smartphones. For that one has to work extra with upressing AI.

Zero, 29 Aug 2023Actually they solved the 5G modem issues aparently and the ... moreHuawei doesn't have to abide by any Ericsson rules in the EU. As Qualcomm is a US company it needs a licence from the government to do business with Huawei. It has a licence to sell Huawei phone SOCs but without 5G. In its most recent earnings call it said it would see no further 'material revenue' from Huawei. They did not say 'why'.

IMO, it could be one of two options:

                  1. The US government has announced to Qualcomm (but not to anyone else yet) that it's licence would be revoked or not renewed.

                  2. Huawei has told Qualcomm it won't be buying any more of its chipsets.

If it's number 2, it will be because Huawei has managed to release itself from all the choke points it was being subjected to. The solutions might not be the best in performance terms out of the gate but you can be sure Huawei and it's suppliers are confident both performance and yields can be ramped up quickly.

Seeing as this release of a flagship has been so low key, I would imagine that the real punch is scheduled to land with the P70 early next year.

So bad for Harmony Os Next does not support apk Android file. Make os to support all ecosystem if you want to you don't add Google apps but make international support. China is going to end freedom like North Korea.

Allanoite, 29 Aug 2023Is this true 5nm? If so, who manufactured it? Samsung and T... moreFunny story seems that there will be Kirin 9100, Kirin 830 and Kirin 720 after that.
                          And the following configurations.
                          - 2 Cortex-X3, 2 Cortex-A715 and 4 Cortex-A510 CPU cores, and an Arm Immortalis-G715 MC16 GPU.
                          - 2 Cortex-X1, 3 Cortex-A78 and 3 Cortex-A55 CPU cores and an Arm Mali G710 MC10/6 GPU

Since Huawei seems that has no authorization to get ARM v9 designs seems that the latter might be the one used for the next Kirin.

Seeing the situation, seems that Huawei might use the Kirin 9100 in the new SMIC 7nm, while the other two goes with the Dual 14nm chip (dual stacked 14nm chip)

Returning to the Kirin 9000S, considering that is a early 7nm SMIC, is performing on par with the Kirin 990 which was with 7nm TSMC, which it might be decent, since the A78 chips are underclocked hard compared to the 990 ones.

This shows how Chinese are not the top dog, but they are not totally out of bussiness. At least for Midrange is competitive.

I'm saying this because many believe US is the one hold the patent on ASML litho machine.

Equal leaks has shared some interesting info on the new Kirin 9000s:

                                "Exclusive!

According to an internal source, Kirin 9000S should be the aborted Kirin 9000 v200.

HiSilicon has designed both Hi36a0 v100 and v200. Hi36a0 v100 was released as Kirin 9000 in late 2021. However, Hi36a0 v200 had been aborted due to software issues. Now, Huawei seemed to have overcome the issue and continued Hi36a0 v200 and renamed it as Kirin 9000S.

It should overperform Snapdragon 888, but that's it. As a 2021 SoC, you can't expect much performance. Also, it comes with a GPU built on Huawei's own architecture, so gaming experience is still unknown. What's more difficult is rooting & unlocking the bootloader.

Do I recommend Mate 60 Pro? Of course not. For anyone with ¥7,000($960) in pocket, there're so many better choices to make rather than buying this Android 12 Huawei without GMS. Kirin SoC won't be as heated as Qcom or MTK, but it's more of a symbol of respawn than a flagship SoC."
