Anonymous, 05 Sep 2023As someone living in the EU I can tell you that the EU is a... moreIs not that simple. The problem is on both sides.
This system should work (I mean with people travelling freely in EU countries and working freely in other EU countries and have the same rights in every EU country), is just that nowadays there are too many variables in play. Also, too many st*pid people in charge.
We need leaders in Europe, not just people who do this and that for some image points and some extra votes.

Anonymous, 05 Sep 2023If all goes as planned if you use imessage you will be able... moreI think Apple would rather disable their messenger protocol on EU iPhones than open up their system to interoperability. It's a mature product at a big corporation so it wouldn't surprise me if tech debt made it impossible anyways.
Or they could release a completely useless app for Android, like they did for AirTags.

Ok, this is a little annoying because iMessage is inbuilt into iPhones and is a great way of communicating without needing to download an additional messaging platform, I would not like to see this get "regulated" by Europe because it will probably just get banned like Threads did. I feel like it's a really petty way of android users crying about the green tick beside their message.

This is more like being tried guilty for what goes on in a man's mind so give him the electric chair for all his future crimes of thought.
They have a regulation set with thresholds. Their not met by bong nor iMessage then do NOT put them on the list. Else those thresholds mean squat!
See where thr power tripping flex and hate statement against anything not EU I've made fits perfectly here? ;)
I use Bing - chatGPT4 is very good better than googles Baird. Just cause most cannot rhi k beyond basic internet search to use it for doesn't mean it isn't useful mor powerful.

Anonymous, 05 Sep 2023They can do as they will, but it can only backfire to them ... moreIf anything, I can see Apple leaving the EU altogether.
Most of their market is on China/India, US + UK nowadays. And iSheeps will import the iPhone from the UK if they want it that badly.

If it isn't a gatekeeper, why set it up to potentially work as a gatekeeper?

Apple has to realize that it can't win; either they will play by the EU rules, or abandon the EU market. Second one in really not an option for them because they would leave one of the biggest markets in the world.

There are unfortunately more than 40m active apple phones in the eu. Being as the apple system is a walled garden dictatorship then all those devices have the message app whether the user actually wants it or not.
