Anonymous, 07 Sep 2023Why samsung fans are crying here ? Adding Android OS Sup... moreUpdates wont make you hold on to your phone for longer time.
With my last phones i had no updates for 3 and half years while the phone got only 1 OS update and 18 months of security updates even tough the phone was marketed as some project treble as to get more updates.

For these people who use there phones at most max 3 years that wont matter that the phone get updates longer.

Also a large part of the market have updates set to off from auto update.

Fairphone will get you 10 years of updates but it's not something people go wild and need to have as these dont sell so well and for most it's too unknown.

Also when your phone gets borken and warranty is over then a lot of people will buy new phone cause repairing takes a lot of time and then need a phone now and the repair can be more expensive then to buy new phone

Anonymous, 07 Sep 2023Bro basically mentioned one UI as being better than miui. U... moreWell if his experience is only with OneUI and have got like test example for other brands that he wont use for long time then what you expect.

I am not software specialist to know or have an opinion to say that one is better and why it's better. I have used MIUI over 5 years and before that i was on Windows phones and long long ago on early touchscreen model from Samsung as galaxy gio that was bottom budget.

I cant make much difference in android skinned OS and i always ask that what is so better on OneUI over MIUI
While i never get answer to it. And mostly when i get answers for them then it's the typical yellow pages defaming ads and spyware

Each brands have some specific features that others dont have so if you have been with that specific feature for 10 years then you cant live without it so all the other OS skins will be bad no matter what

47cosmos, 07 Sep 2023And hope they have good battery ready for changing after 2 yearsMy last xiaomi lost only 20% of battery life in 5 years so if yours only last 2 years that means you abuse the phone too much and there wont be any solid option for you from any other brand also

ashrobb, 07 Sep 2023I'll never understand the uncontrollable need to be on... moreFinally someone who understands things. My uncle uses Samsung J1 (2016) with speadtrum SOC and android 5.0 Believe it or not, it's perfectly usable. And yesterday I saw a Huawei with android 7, also sufficiently fast, not as slow as one would expect.

Basically Android is a fully mature OS and was like this for quite some years now. Security patches I also fully agree are unnecessary for vast majority of users. It's not like they download .apks and other stuff directly from websites.

The comment I responded to claims that Samsung barely handle 1 update without losing performance. He said Samsung, without any discrimination whatsoever. No tier, no category, plainly "Samsung."

And sorry, the Snapdragon 780G inside my Mi 11 Lite 5G is virtually on equal footing as the Snapdragon 855 inside the Note 10+. So, if the claim that Samsung barely handles 1 update without loosing performance was true, how come after 3 (T-H-R-E-E) OS updates, the Note 10+ still has solid performance, enough to comfortably rival the performance of a phone with similar core hardware on a maiden firmware. Thinking shouldn't be hard as you lot make it seem.

justasmile, 07 Sep 2023Catching up to Apple.Yes.. Xiaomi brand positioning is different with Redmi and Poco. Redmi and Poco are cheaper because of less update support, lower build, lower spec.
