Credit where credit is due, i gotta hand it to both the pro and anti apple sides here - these arguments sure as hell are more actual arguments instead of the dumb crap on youtube comment sections or reddit threads

AnonD-1120144, 17 Sep 2023"Too expensive" True, then again, every other ph... more"Lol. There is not greater data collection than Google. Period. If you have a Google account, than having an Apple ID is like nothing."

What's the comparison, having an Apple phone, or an Android with Google Services is the same thing: they're both plugged in directly to the American NSA.

Some Chinese ones like Xiaomi will also have their own dedicated spyware components, such as: com.miui.securitycenter where data is exchanged with their security (terrorist, same as US) services.

Root applications, ones installed as system - from the factory - have a special status on device: they can change Permissions on the fly - with no notification to the user - and have full access (to everything).

Basically your device comes with a factory "rootkit", and one of the ways to solve this - and have privacy on your purchased phone - is to flash LineageOS (LoS), which is "Vanilla" Android. A version of the OS without Google Services (and go from there. 🙂)

Most, if not all, other custom Android ROMs are derivatives of LoS, btw.

The only thing that will convince me to seriously consider an iPhone is getting sideloading support and removing restrictions on file management. Or if Android does the opposite lol

IpsDisplay, 17 Sep 2023Well people will spend $1000 for watching tik tok It is... moreJeez dude, is that seriously all you use your phone for????

I get why people are saying the the 15 series is expensive (it's Apple after all), but if people have the means to get one, then why not. Apple products are the pretty epitome of indulgence.

As i don't finding myself in the rather unfortunate position of having to simultaneously replace my tv, tablet, and various household appliances, I think i'll just treat myself to the 15 Pro Max.....

Just proves when I say all redmi note users want iphone.

I can chose between two opinions: to get 65 inch tv, tablet, air conditioner, fridge, electric stove, and probably redmi 12 5g or upcoming redmi note 13 or to get just Iphone 15 pro max. I like more first option.

er...you get what google uses Android for right????

Juerg, 17 Sep 2023Paying for iPhones is just not sensible any more. Too ex... moreI think this is applicable to any smartphone. It's really not wise to spend on another smartphone that's not much different than your previous one. And that's with trading it in where people are really suckered into mandatory unlimited phone plans for 2 to 3 years.

AT&T first offered the Razr+ for $5 monthly but you need to be on a minimum plan of $75 and it needs to be 3 years. Hell no. I'm under ACP since I have EBT. I can get a $30 discount on my phone bill depending if a carrier accepts ACP. My Razr 5G and Flip 3 are already fully paid off. No more $20 and $27.15 taken out of my bank account monthly.

I'm currently on a $30 prepaid plan with only 5 GB high-speed data per month which equates to $0 balance under ACP. But since I'm at home a lot where we have Wi-Fi, I no longer need unlimited data. People really need to think where all their money is going to. To fulfill an ego? Phone collecting is a worthless and expensive hobby.

                          $0 on phone bill
$0 on insurance (sold my car)

My money only goes to food but I still get $290 monthly for food stamps. This $0 monthly overhead feels great. I used to love buying phones. Owned over 60 of them. I suggest to wisen up. Buy a cheap, reliable phone from OfferUp and find the cheapest prepaid plan. I hear MobileX is pretty good.

Save $600-$1000+ every year. All these phone carriers are crooks and I've been with all the major ones here in the US where they use phones as bait to reel suckers in. Don't be that sucker getting another shiny new toy no different than the one you got 5 years ago and be stuck paying 3 years for an unlimited plan.

It's mentally and financially healthier if we stop visiting sites like this or go on YouTube to check reviews which really are sales pitches. Lessen Internet usage and smartphone addiction from all the consumerism brainwashing.

iPhone SE (2022): The Honda and Toyota of iPhones. Cheap, reliable, simple, and efficient. That's all I need from any smartphone. As long as I can use the Internet, the rest of the features are gimmicks.

it's not so much the prohibitive cost of all the models it's the defunct hardware they still use (12mp cmos are 15yrs old) and the fact that the base model is only a ridiculously priced mid-ranger. the lack of a 3.5mm, the lack of bluetooth file share, the lack of it being plugged in as removeable storage. i'm fed up with the blinkered love-in with this tat.

Yes. I’ve been using Galaxy S20+ since it came out and now I’m switching to iPhone 15 PM… then in three years time i’ll be switching back to a Galaxy S device.

Ah yes, Apple, the company famous for collection all your data to give you personalized ads and better results in their search engine. Wait, that was a different company.

Sticking to my red iPhone SE (2022) until it no longer works on a network. Only got it for $150 last year. Got it unlocked and has this gorgeous red Spigen case I got for it. Prefer the rounded sides and Touch ID. If it breaks or I lose it, I'll buy another one like it.

Tired of spending money on phones and phone services. Rather save up towards my retirement plan.
