Anonymous, 19 Sep 2023Now find me one with the same chip and different foundries.... moreYes but here there are two gap, Samsung is 4nm while Tsmc is 6nm, if you have evidence that Samsung 4nm is inferior to Tsmc 6nm please link.
You can find plenty of comparison.
.
1. Exynos 1380 vs sd 778G both are 2.4ghz quad cortex A78
2. Exynos 1330 vs D900 both dual A78 at 2.4ghz
3. Sd 4 gen 2 vs sd 695 both dual A78 at 2.2ghz
4. 7s gen 2 and 778G etc.
Snapdragon to snapdragon is fair comparison and if you check preliminary benchmarks of Samsung made snapdragon you can see they perform slightly better than Tsmc 6nm,
https://m.gsmarena.com/xiaomi_redmi_12_5g_hands_on-review-2609p3.php
Like there you can see 2.2ghz A78 from Sd 4 gen 2 is slightly faster than 2.2ghz from sd 695, nothing much but atleast you can see 4nm from Samsung isnt Inferior perfomance wise.
Battery life here in Gsmarena they didnt review any soc up there except Exynos 1380 and it has Amazing battery life compare to it's peer.
And as i said in previous comment plenty of redmi 12 5G reviews are available, check mysmartprice youtube have one or other chanells both Exynos 1330 and sd 4 gen 2 are really good in battery life.

You just have to look at the recent PC market where anything mad by Samsung's fab had 50-100% more power consumption. They use Samsung because it's cheap, not because it's good.

Pumpino, 19 Sep 2023The performance, not to mention the naming scheme, of Qualc... moreThis is not true though, for last few years only Dimensity 8100 was clear superior soc but other mediatek soc most of them were overpriced until recently where D1300 got discounted.
Take Example under $200 market most mtk soc still stuck at cortex A76, G90 became G95, then G96 then G99, D700 and 810 have been renamed and still used until today. But others already moved to A78, like Qualcom had Sd 4 gen 2, sd 4 gen 1 and sd 695 all of them can be found under $200 even Samsung has Exynos 1330 in that price point.
Even sub $200 market Mtk gave 2 cortex A78 cores and sd 778G have been competing with likes of D900, 920 and 1080 for long time.

Anonymous, 19 Sep 2023Completely irrelevant to efficiency. Some YouTube chanels tested sd 4 gen 2 battery life, go youtube search redmi 12 5G battery, it's best among it's class,
If perfomance is better, and battery life is better that's relevant I hope.

The performance, not to mention the naming scheme, of Qualcomm's chips is disappointing. MediaTek's offerings in the last couple of years have offered better performance, better efficiency and less heat, whilst being cheaper. I'd like to see more OEMs use them, especially instead of Exynos.

I thought Qualcomm is US based company but why their naming sense is confusing as Xiaomi.....

Anonymous, 18 Sep 2023Wow, do you think you are special because Nope. How did you come up with that silly conclusion? Ip15 pro max and S23 Ultra users who only use theirs for social media are yesterday's Nokia N95 users who only used theirs for call and text. An utter waste of natural resources.

Unpopular opinion: 7s gen 2 will never beat snapdragon 778G. Snapdragon 778G is currently and will remain the second best and most efficient midrange chip for years to come, only inferior to the 7+ which is basically an underclocked 8+.

Anonymous, 18 Sep 2023Because most brands are still using 695, their love for tha... moresnapdragon 695 is just pure nonsense, just a glorified 4 gen 1 with slightly higher clock speeds. Can't even beat last century's snapdragon 768G.
I mean, just look at how much of a laggy hell Galaxy A23 5g is (one ui core would be more fitting) and that is a 2022 phone and many brands are using sd695 in 2023

that's cool and all but hopefully phones actually use it because it always seems like the mid and low end still end up with older mid low end chips instead the current years versions, just odd

Where are all technical details and software support for drivers?
Ask yourself why there is no info about ARM instruction set version, speed of cores/clusters and most importantly why is possible to have two
Clusters of cores for mildly range products but not high end products, I think arm for a good reason is keeping down to disadvantage Android users with unreliable cores structure meat to slow down the OS schedular and thus end user experience.

[deleted post]If it truly is a rework of the 680 (which itself was a rework of the 662) Then it would use the Adreno 610 GPU, not the 710.
The 662 used the (god awful) Adreno 610 and so did its beefed-up version, the 680.
I see no reason why Qualcomm would S U D D E N L Y change the GPU.
