This was your reply to: Like it really matters if you want a proffesional photos buy a proffesional camera for example Canon Mark 5 or something like that.
No phone no matter what camera specs its offer will outpreform even a low cost 300 eur camera. Thats just not possible.

I bought S23 Ultra and boy it was one expensive piece of hot trash. For the same money 1200 € I could've bought 3 or 4 Xiaomi flagships and make whole family happy. Samsung is overpriced garbage. You only pay this crazy amount of $$$ for the company name printed on your phone's plastic case. All other China phones can do the same.
I will never buy Samsung again. Worst display ever

In order to use all the megapixels, you need 4:3 aspect ratio. An normal video is 16:9, so it would be cropped in and can't take full advantage of all the megapixels. In order to record a true 4K (2160x3840) video, you would need a camera that can take a picture with a resolution of at least 2880x3840 or (11.06MP).
So, technically a 4K video take less than 10MP but because of how cameras work, you would actually need 12MP to record a true 4K video. 4K videos recorded on 10MP is usually upscaled slightly to account for the lack of horizontal resolution.

Yes, you may argue that you get better results at 10x from the new 5x because of the bigger aperture and you still get slightly higher resolution (12.5MP vs 10MP) but also why not just improve the current 10x zoom?
Why can't we just make a bigger 10x zoom camera that let's more light in? Even if the new 5x zoom is objectively better, it gonna be hard to convince customers that it is.
Also, why is the 3x zoom camera still capped at 10MP? It should be at least 12MP to get true 4k video, 50MP would be even better. We already have the technology for that and it would make things more consistent across the board.

I used to buy the Samsung S Series Ultra phone only because of its high zoom capability and changed it every year, Samsung has no chance against the Apple iPhone without zoom capabilities.

F2.8 lens in front of a type 1/2.5 sensor would take in 63% more light than a dedicated 230mm eq. F4.9 lens in front of a type 1/3.5 sensor. There's no point in having a dedicated 10x module if a 5x module with a 2x crop applied to it does a better job.
