Nick Tegrataker, 21 Sep 2023I wish that S24U would have a type 1/2.5 imager with a 120m... moreWhy do you think that a 50 MP 5x telephoto sensor is better than a 10 MP 10x telephoto sensor? What if I wanted a 10x optical zoom?

Samsung for life, 21 Sep 2023They won't because for many people s pen is useful and... moreThis. They also need to separate Ultra from the rest by something very defining that if you want it, you absolutely have to go with Ultra. And S-Pen is just that. You want S-Pen, you need Ultra. There is no middle ground. One can say telephoto lens is also one, sure, but you can still make photos even with S23 or S23+. You just can't write on either of them.

Samsung for life, 21 Sep 2023This is not copying apple . But this will give you more fle... moreIt never (!) had a 10x lossless zoom setting because
      -you don't get 12 megapixels at 10x
-sensor area at 10x is smaller than at 1x
-full frame equivalent f-number is worse than at 1x, this leads to diffraction(very important) as well as noise

"10x optical" is a marketing term, it's not a physical specification.
-The focal length is only 4.3x as high as the focal length of the main camera (27.2mm / 6.3mm)
-the number of pixels per angle is only 9.25x as high in comparison with the main camera (12 megapixel mode)
-the effective lens diameter is only 1.5x as high in comparison with the main camera.

In all three cases, you would need a value of 10 for a lossless 10x zoom setting and they achieved this value not even once because the 10x camera has only 10 megapixels instead of 12, therefore the value for pixels per angle is only 9.25x as high in comparison with the main camera. For comparison: The Pixel 7 Pro has a value of 9.57 in comparison with the main camera...

Samsung is a joke as usual.

Samsung for life, 21 Sep 2023There is no point in comparing a 1 and 1/4 camera sensor. Tell that to a person whom I replied to, not to me lol.

Anonymous, 20 Sep 2023So they will copy paste the Apple way since this periscope ... moreThis is not copying apple . But this will give you more flexibility. Now it will have 3x ,5x. & 10x almost lossless zoom . Previously it had 3x & 10x

walkman8, 20 Sep 2023I am pretty sure they'll ditch the s pen with s25u. They won't because for many people s pen is useful and also now there is no note

3x-10x continuous zoom should become the next big target in smartphone photography. like sony's continuous zoom, but without quality loss.

I wish that S24U would have a type 1/2.5 imager with a 120mm (equivalent) F2.8-3 lens for its telephoto camera. Alternatively, they could use exactly the same telephoto setup used by Oppo - A type 1/1.5 sensor sitting behind a 65mm F2.6 lens.

Samsung's 10x periscope lens has definitely run its course, and I'm happy to see it going away and getting replaced by something better.

Leave it alone I didn't switch from a life long iphone user to android because of limited specs. I want the crazy zoom and awesome camera 200mp cameras lol. Make it 400 and add lidar and start showing Apple why samsung should not be messed with. I started out with iPhone 3 and went right to iphone 12 that's how long I was with them and I switched to the s23 ultra this year best decision I've ever made. Apple hold so much back from its customers and drip feeds us features that we think is crazy but samsung been doing it for years lol. I love have all the control over my phone and the extra specs make it 10 times better. So I say not only keep the 10 x zoom but make it 20 x zoom and start innovating the poop out of the thing and show why samsung and android are better.

Samsung has offered a periscope sensor with 10x optical zoom for more than three years, starting with the Galaxy S20 Ultra, not s21 Ultra, but it seems you forgot...

Anonymous, 20 Sep 2023Review does not have samples using digital zoom out of 200m... moreI think there was 4x, it wasn't so great, but it was more like processing fault, not the resolving detail capability of sensor which was good, there was just too much noise and detail loss in some parts.
