I'm just trying to say that any phone more than 500$ is a luxury thing. People are satisfied with the fact that they have the best of the best. The example with the computer shows that for the price of a brand new smartphone, you can buy many other things and get much more impressions and emotions.

Apple also considers cost of doing business in that particular country and the volatility of the country’s currency against USD. Thus the prices are usually more than simply adding applicable duties/taxes. This can add up 30 to 50% on top of US MSRP.

Also, is not correct comparing a PC with a phone. There are two completely different things.
Is like saying a car is not worth 50,000EUR because it cost the same as an apartment. At least in my home country is like this.
Of course, you can buy lots of other things with 1,500EUR. But that's not the point.

it is phenomenal that the A17 "mobile phone" chip is sitting in 5th place in the entire world for single-threaded performance; when you put it n a laptop, than suddenly Apple has a passively cooled laptop that can go toe to toe with fastest desktop CPUs on the planet.

They always have an excuse, be it the dolar/euro conversion, taxes or whatever. But, that the price people pay, tough luck, that's how it is.
