Cpt.Power, 25 Sep 2023Well stick to the supersim and use USB C earphones or go wi... moreWired is still of higher quality than wireless, and it doesn't need to be charged every few hours, and less Bluetooth, less battery drain and so on. The only good thing about wireless is the comfort of not dealing with cables, but that doesn't bother me. Still, people likeyou doesn't seem to understand, having one doesn't force you to use it or stop you from using Bluetooth or cloud, but it's there for those who need it. It's all about CHOICE! Different people, different needs.

I would blindly choose a device with expandable memory through micro SD any time. Not that I'm against devices with on-board memory only but it just makes more sense to me to have the option to expand the memory if I whish to (certainly when the device has a triple slot). With hybrid slots it's a bit more complex for a person like me as I have more than one sim. It takes a lot of time to download my personal content when I don't have an SD card (Yes, I'm old-school and don't use cloud storage except for back-up purpose).
What I will never do is to go for a e-SIM device as do swap a lot between devices I own (or use), a bit like what I want to wear the next day (not that I'm like that with clothes :-) ). Again, it's not because I'm against e-SIM's, it's because in my country it sucks monkey balls to swap e-SIM's between devices. The day that I can easily swap trough a native app between phones then I won't mind abandoning a physical SIM. It just comes down to having the ease as I have with physical sim's and of course also SD cards.

KondriX, 24 Sep 2023I for example would never buy a phone without a microSD slo... moreHere is my take.
microSD cards are cheap and plentiful, however, a lot of makers prefer charging buyers $100 extra to go from 128GB to 256GB. You can get a 2TB NVMe SSD for that kind of cash, 128GB of flash memory really doesn’t cost that much.
Apple has perfected this wall garden approach, get an iPhone, you need more memory why because it is nom expandable, the gate keeper iTunes
Apple has had 25 years to implement expandable memory it hasn't
If you're phone doesn't have a micro SD slot the next best thing is OTG, which Apple could have provided years ago
You can have external temporary storage, laptop with USB stick. The phones is just the same
You don't need to have 256Gb, 512Gb accessable all the time( phone backup is different)
Accepting you point, if no microSD, and no USB OTG,
(This description is an iPhone or Pixel)
MicroSD card are slower than Apple's NVME or UFS they
NOT extinct 90Mbs is no slouch.
I have a USB stick, my phone is USB OTG capable.
When I use laptop or PC normally the phones are connected easier to sync data.
I see the gripes OTG is the poor UFS relation, but take heart, intentionally not on iPhone why cloud storage.
I don't use cloud storage, everything is backed up, My USB are backed up my phone is backed up.
On the 3.5mm Jack you have me there.
I prefer wired as no Bluetooth drain.
This phone is only 128Gb, nowhere near full
No doubt there will be comeback to this , but please do just list how MUCH GB for say the top 5, apps video music etc, so I can take onboard your comments

Edward Coventry, 25 Sep 2023No a phone without an SD card slot is more like a computer ... moreActually no, a phone without an SD slot is just a macbook, while a phone with one is a PC.

For me, the problem is that MicroSD cards could be damaged if they didn't get ejected by the software (which you would have to look up deep in Settings) and also, the quality would vary. Even though i had a great quality microSD card, it got damaged only because I didn't "eject" the card in Settings. Before, it wouldn't be a problem if you got the card out without the software, but now it does. And because of this, I lost all my precious data from the card. I won't rely on MicroSD cards anymore, except for DSLRs (which cards can get better use on it than on a phone). Idk about you guys, but for me, it better be gone for good from the phones same as the headphone jack retired for good.

The best is still 2 Sims + 1 Msd slots found in lower or mid tier phones like Redmi Note 10, Poco M4 Pro, Poco M3, etc. ESim & Built-In mem only phones are just strategies to reduce phone life span to encourage upgrading/spending.
