I don't think you need really long pockets to house it.

So they took telephoto and led notification away, made thicker bezels, still stuck to the old static refresh rates, only made 128gb globally, yet cost same as before which is too much. Why on earth is it like this? Other than headphone jack and microSD card issue, I can't see how could anyone get this over s23! Honestly, if you get a Poco F5 then you'll get 95% of this at only 1/3 the price, plus less bezels and better refresh rate management!
If they just re-released Xperia 5iv with 8 gen 2 it would still be better!

arka, 26 Sep 2023Need more compact form factor. 5.4 inch would be good5.4 inch screen sony phone would still be about 6.1 inch body

Give it another 12 months and Sony will do an LG and exit the phone market completely. Too much hubris and laziness to fix their thermal management, software, annoying aspect ratio, lack of longer-term android updates and their Apple level prices

Merely having a headphone jack and microSD doesn't make a terrible phone good

Anonymous, 26 Sep 2023Sooo it's not coming to the US...As a past Xperia 1 III user, I can say that Sony bringing a phone to the US doesn't mean that the phone will work correctly in the US. It claimed 5G but the feature was crippled so it couldn't actually be used. LTE never did carrier aggregation right either. It was a very expensive phone for "Emergency Calls Only."

21:9 is perfect for me personally

anon, 26 Sep 2023While that is true, the weird aspect ratios used in modern ... moreThose ratios don't provide any benefits and only serve to add more ppi. Sure videos on a 21:9 aspect ratio may have black boxes around it if it's not in that ratio, but you get used to it just like how you get used to the cutout as people have said here before.

When you get that 21:9 context that Sony offers along with Amazon and Netflix, it's a fantastic viewing experience.

The usability of the phone is improved depending on how you use it. Scrolling through social media is better, reading books or articles on your phone is better, and the overall feeling in your hand is more comfortable. You can actually use it one-handed and it puts little strain on the hand, especially for people with smaller hands.

Not to mention the useability of the phone itself.

It's a legitimate aspect ratio used. It's been out longer than the garbage ratios that others use today like 19.3:9, 19.5:9, 20:9 ratios
