The female presenter categorically said that the P8/Pro has a new main sensor, GN2 most likely. Besides, GN1 does not support staggered HDR, GN2 does, which might be required for the new video features and the full res photo capture (both JPEG and RAW in 50mp)

The female presenter said categorically in the keynote that the P8/Pro has a "new main sensor" with better lowlight performance (GN2 hopefully), "bigger" ultrawide lens with macro focus and an "upgraded" telephoto with 10x optical quality

autocascading, 04 Oct 2023I could live with the midrange SOC Google is using if they ... moreI think the antenna's design is actually another thing to blame for iPhone's signal problems. This isn't something a Qualcomm modem can mitigate, despite being superior to Samsung's.
Plus, it seems iPhone 15 series was involved in its fake 5G scandal in China. It shows good 5G signal in Metro Line 10 in Beijing but that line doesn't have 5G coverage. And the long loading times for short videos show that it's indeed not.

Looks great, though still available in such a limited amount of countries. I've been waiting for a Pixel to officially launch in Hong Kong so long I've just given up hope at this point. :/

This company is like Apple, very boring design {the same for years} with minor tricks every generation. Like Apple's engineers having a lazy minds to think of new designs and concepts but keep on recycling their decade old designs.

Google predicted (with AI) apple A17 pro overheating so they made a thermometer to help iPhone users to control their phone whenever it becomes hot and sick !
Say now "Thanks Google" !

Nick Tegrataker, 05 Oct 2023It's great that we get a stacked 48MP stacked RAW with... moreI tested the periscope camera of the 15 Pro Max and the image processing is just terrible. I have a Pixel 7 Pro and while the daylight noise reduction is more aggressive than on my Google Nexus 5x, the main issue of Google's image processing is between the 20x and 30x zoom settings. A 2x crop from a 15x photo looks better than a 30x photo. Nonetheless, Apple's 15x image processing is even much, much worse than Google's 30x image processing. Apple really invents things that are not there. When I took a photo of distant text with the 15 Pro Max at 370mm, the text looked sharper than on the image of my 7 Pro. The only issue: The text wasn't real, even the letters of the words were not real whereas the 7 Pro showed the correct words. So the 7 Pro actually had a much higher "true sharpness".

It's great that we get a stacked 48MP stacked RAW with an easily accessible manual control now, although I'm definitely wondering if Google has dialed down its aggressive, offensively bad JPEG post processing.
It's ridiculous that you need to install a gcam *PORT* to get around it on Pixel 7 and ealier that were literally made by Google themselves, hopefully they learned a thing or two from Apple about how toning down sharpening and noise reduction actually doesn't hurt image quality.

At Google's website I have read that the astrophotography mode of the 8 Pro now supports the ultra wide angle camera (this was already the case when the Pixel 5 was released, but was disabled by an update).
According to an article from Cnet about the 8 Pro, Night Sight as well as the astrophotography mode now also support 50 megapixel images. Though I wonder whether astrophotography mode also supports 50 megapixel periscope images. But anyway, according to the article, you can shoot 50 megapixel images with manual settings even in low light conditions.
