Usual Google Rubbish, Increase the UK Price and throw in a crappy watch to try and sweeten the deal.

No improved Fingerprint Scanner, Doubtful improved battery or thermals and still a slow shitty soc for a bunch of gimmicks

tr3ei, 04 Oct 2023"and a promise of 7 years of OS and security updates, ... moreWho keeps a phone for 7 years anyway?? 🙄

Soooo ... No USB OTG and no MicroSD slot. Great for forcing people to use Google Photo and other product instead of having locally what they need ... On perhaps a SSD portable ?

The amount of 5G bands present in the US model is something else!
Comparable with iPhone 15 offering, more than what S23 Ultra has to offer. Not sure what S24 will bring to the table.
        Very good for international travel.

"and a promise of 7 years of OS and security updates, which is the longest in the Android realm". Really?! Misleading, at least, given the recent Fairphone 5 with 8-10 years of OS and security updates

Curious about this Tensor G3 is a Kirin 950 moment or Kirin 960 moment for google. Or a Kirin 980 moment.
8 Gen 3 will inevitably beat Tensor G3, but having an in-house chip and guts to use it on the flagship will eventually lead to an advantage, as in the example of Huawei. Hisilicon also starts from abysmal K3 and K3V2.

From google website ( product's page)

              - all versions use ufs3.1
              - 1/1.31" image sensor size
              - usb C 3.2 ( cable usb c 2.0)

So Google increased price at 8 pro but base model is still 128gb???
                Yeah, how exciting....not.

Surely any of them already has it .

Google thought it would sell cause apple could sell. But Google also should remember that 1200€ is too much for a pixel device with questionable manufacturing record in the past.

Both phones are actually reportedly using GN2, and Tensor G3 performance is apparently, according to Geekbench 6, on par with S8G2. Plus there's the absolutely bonkers 7 years of update which include OS & security but also features !

7 years of Os Update is insane

Vasra, 04 Oct 20231. Too high price 2. Slower than last year's Top SoC ... more1. It's cheaper than non-chinese competition.
                              2. Irrelevant as it is plenty fast.
                              3. Not many need that much.
                              4. Doesn't hurt to have.
                              5. Great cameras for the price.

Anonymous, 04 Oct 2023Extremely minor upgrades except the SoC, and a major price ... moreI believe Google is also addressing several shortcomings of the 7s and before. Less thermal issues (better battery life?), a better fingerprint reader and at least a little fast charging.

                                  1. Too high price
                                  2. Slower than last year's Top SoC
                                  3. No 1TB available outside US (and of course, no card slot, so you pay through your nose for extra storage)
                                  4. Useless temp sensor
                                  5. Meh cameras for that price

I have a whole bunch of separate thoughts about this phone:

                                    1. Very interesting to see a 9-core processor. This is just unique and notable.

                                    2. 1200% storage markup. Ewwwwww.

                                    3. No USB-OTG??? Are you kidding me? This is gonna be the new trend of manufacturers removing useful features. USB-OTG is super useful for any USB device, the big one being flash drives to add to the skimpy storage phone OEMs put on their phones. Edit: USB-OTG has never been on a Pixel since at least the 6.

                                    4. Nice to see WiFi 7. Hopefully this phone has a good modem on it unlike the Pixel 6 series.

                                    5. 7 years of software support is really nice to see, even for someone who doesn't generally like Android updates. I just hope the Android OS hasn't bloated to 60GB in 2030.

The fact that they didn't bring the pro camera controls to the non-pro pixel really pi**es me off.
I want pro controls and I want a more compact device!
Looks like S24 has more chances of becoming my next phone. Samsung is not greedy with that one
+ ultrasonic FP performs much better during the night and with wet fingers
                                      + DEX
+ it will have next gen ARM cores
