Exynos has always been a story of ups and downs (mainly the latter) what makes we wonder why Samsung stubbornly holds on to their own solutions. I get it when you say you want to have some independency on the hardware side but then you need to put all the effort (and money to it. I don't dislike Samsung's efforts but I'm not convinced they believe in it themselves.

otherwise, exynos would never win on efficiency, heat management and so on. i really hope samsung would allow users to control clock speed. whether if they want to underclock or overclock it. and disable prime cores if necessary.

Is it more thermally efficient, though? That remains the million-dollar question. Qualcomm finally got things right with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. If Samsung can emulate it, that should be fine.

The rumor at the end better be false... or it'll be like a mini disaster for Samsung.
The world saying anything leaves room for debates. But, Samsung packing Snapdragon 8-G3 in the Ultra, while rest of the range getting Exynos, is like Samsung is itself admitting that Exynos is inferior to SnapD.

At the same clock speed, the A17 Pro is actually more efficient than the A16. But Apple pushed it more just so the marketing department can put a significant improvement over the A16. It’s basically marketing trumping engineering at Apple, once again.

Thank to Samsung, Qualcomm would not even dare to put super expensive price to its chip, otherwise many manufacturer would use Exynos chip instead.

It's probably part of the problem too. It shows designs frames only. It doesn't have any reference to efficiency in heat terms. Which has to be tested at all Ghz and core types and designs, independently, in each iteration by the companies. Many of the X Cores are heat producing furnaces. They are also energy guzzlers. SoC designing has to consider that aspect.

But, the latest iPhone is also overheating (as did some previous models). Which may suggest that the difference in Samsung and TSMC fab may be getting closer that previously, and sooner than imagined.
