If you want money, just say so. Stop finding reasons for people to pay. That's not a good idea. Phone verification is already enough. If not Show them traffic lights or captcha. You could find ways to know they are humans not bots..

By the way; the minute someone ask me for money on already free stuff, I am out!

unxpctd, 18 Oct 2023Not pay and be harassed by troll farmsAnd?

These 'troll farms' can just pay that $1 subscription and continue to do that.

Stop trying to defend such shitty moves by social media platforms.

Well nnever had and never plan to have acc on twitter or X so i really dont care.
There are 100+ well known social networks around the globe which works litterary the same.
All should cost at least 1 eur to use just to make zero bots on the site also those who willing only to hate and spread hate to get rid of from social networks.

I would assume for example pay 100 eur as a one time paymwnt to verify its real you and you can use the app for free for as long as you want.

This would erase most scammers and other freaks.

I personaly hate for example if i follow Emma Watson famous Harry Potter movie star known as Hermiona Granger and see there is like 50+ Emma Watson accounts on Facebook and noone of them is real Emma. All want just your money, your credit, your subscribtion to steam etc. But noone can validate its a real Emma by posting a real proof.
Same goes for many else celebrities and movie stars.
Same goes for many else social networks like TikTok for example.

I think Twitter is not an essential website in people's lives, it's a hobby at best and time-killer in most cases. I do agree with privacy rights in general, I detest regulation of the internet which was supposed to be the free medium for everyone and now police is going after people for what they do online. But there are billions of websites where you can be anonymous, Twitter decided it's not that place, but as long as there is no dystopian regulation (like what the EU likes to do) forcing people on whole continents to use their real names, I think it's fine.

justasmile, 18 Oct 2023Nah, just makes more people quit X.That's absolutely right, but it was people who didn't really want to be there and didn't have any good content anyway. Good riddance. Less people, higher quality content.

Now everything and more about us is up there and people can are legally prosecuted for what they write or download on the internet.

In the end, they still need to be sold for the founder to regain the lost fortune running negative cash flow for years.

Signal is also advertised as an open-source and free messaging app. And yet, most people still use WhatsApp and Telegram.

elon hate bots not because said bot causing spam problem and whatnot, but because of data collected on said bot account are worthless since it didn't representing real human in any way.
elon, already in debt, resort to make what was known as twitter to gain as much profit as possible.
this is one of it, not the first but certainly not the last.

Elon knew there are lots of Bots in the Philippines.. Marcos, the current president, are paying trolls to spread fake news and revise history -- most specially during election!!! Good move, Elon! But for sure, Marcos and his cronies can still pay for each troll since they got billions already. Corruption is a politician's business in the Philippines!

If you think it's not good for you. It's good for somebody. Since those two country experience a lot of bot accounts. Especially dummy accounts that are being used to harassed, promote disinformation, death threats, defamation, and cyber bullying.

I bet some troll/bot accounts (or people who use them) are willing to pay this amount to keep trolling/botting, which defeats the purpose of this subscription.
