In my country the cheapest iphone 15 is the equivalent of $950 US. This for a brand new phone with an old processor. Next year it will be $50 more for a mid range processor.
I have never bought an iPhone and next year will be no different.

I bet the A18 that's to come with the 16 & 16 plus is definitely an A17 pro, but apple Jst want people to think they are no longer using last year's chipset which they really are

Only the rich get to experience 4GHz of greatness on a phone with no proper cooling. And the rich will probably and only use those precious Gigahertz to browse instagram and take mirror selfies anyways, so what's the point of 4Ghz apart from making benchmarkers and phone geeks splodge out of exitement and slowing down older chipsets to "save on power".
I hope the A18 Pro gets a 2P+6E Octa Core Upgrade instead of just a slight GHz increase or an extra GPU core, Samsung has already revived Deca Core Processors with Exynos 2400 and Apple is still stuck on 6 Cores.

If the Apple Watch S-series SOC is any indication, nothing stops Apple of rebranding older SOC as newer.
However, given the multicore and GPU performance of the A17 Pro; can be suggested an underclocked or binned version as A18, with lower multicore and less GPU cores.
