FatShady, 24 Oct 2023doesn't matter how close it is to normal cpu performan... moreIt has x64 emulation on ARM64 and x86 emulation on ARM64. It's not great as Rosetta 2 on macOS but it is there.

Hemedans, 24 Oct 2023If they price it we'll, Amd and Intel are in trouble, ... moreThis.
One of the reasons why Apple was successful with the M1 series is because the prices of their products went down slightly, they had backwards compatibility, the new chipsets were slightly faster, and battery life doubled.
Qualcomm doesn't get those same priveleges. They should offer these at a notable discount, say the software emulation is a bonus, show performance is higher, battery life is doubled, and throw in the 5G/4G connectivity for free. That's how you build traction. You need to entice consumers, and not just match the current market.
Based on the QC 8CX g2 laptops and tablets out there, well I wasn't too impressed. It was fine, but not mind-blowing. And the prices were equal to offerings which had the Apple M2 and AMD 7840u.... making it a non-starter. I fear we will just see history repeat itself, but I am willing to be surprised. We need more competition in the chip space.

SShock, 25 Oct 2023Everyone wants to pull the Apple, but no one can because no... moreIt will be good when microsoft will make custom chip just like Google is doing for pixel.
The problem is that their implementation is not good as that of Apple. Because Apple doing it for years and also they use tsmc for manufacturing.

Everyone wants to pull the Apple, but no one can because none of them does both, hardware and software. I don't know why they keep trying. No matter how good anything from Qualcomm is, it just won't work well with Windows. Everyone keeps forgetting how Microsoft has been trying to go ARM for almost 15 years now and it's still absolute junk even today. Apple on the other hand, came in with M series chips and they basically needed like 1 year for complete transition to ARM. Seeing news how NVIDIA will be trying ARM too, it'll only work for compute clusters with custom software and nowhere else. They can just forget about desktops/laptops entirely.

FatShady, 24 Oct 2023doesn't matter how close it is to normal cpu performan... moreVery true. When it comes to Windows on arm Microsoft has a very poor track record. It almost looks like a waste of time developing arm CPUs for windows.

doesn't matter how close it is to normal cpu performances, it'll suck because of windows on arm is horrible and can't run most software other people need to run for their work or uni projects...
also, why not publish real numbers in comparison to intel or amd apu's? because they can't reach their cpu numbers.

If they price it we'll, Amd and Intel are in trouble, but knowing Qualcomm probably it's going to cost $1000+ like Apple.
