Anonymous, 28 Oct 2023You got a carrier locked phone. Probably locked bootloader ... moreI literally typed that I bought it unlocked lol and I never stated that I had certain expectations. I merely shared my experience with it to get the point across that a Japan exclusive phone, even when unlocked, may not be a viable recommendation to people outside Japan.

If i wanted a very small phone the S23 would be perfect and so much better than this chinese toy...I used to say smaller phones are better, but after using an S21FE, now i think 6.4" is the best size for usability versus compactness. Weight is my enemy, not size...

It's frustrating that small phones always, always come with some sort of catch that make them impossible to buy
The last good small phones, Zenfone 10 and 9 both were unavailable in my region
iPhone mini / SE runs on iOS and that's not what I prefer
And small phones like these are not officially available in my region hence importing them with heavy local taxes and then almost zero after sales service makes it impractical to buy
Android phone companies like Samsung or BBK are totally uninterested in going below 6 inches mark

- It's still stuck at Android 12 and security update April 2022.
-The ads are way too aggressive; they pop up basically every 5 minutes you use the phone online.
-When I leave it idle for 24 hours, the UI crashes and calls/messages don't come through so I need to restart every day.
-It supports the 5G band in my region but I have never gotten 5G with it even though I never had that issue with my primary phone.
My experience with it keeps me from importing an Xperia 5 or even a 10. I got it for about 95USD converted, which makes it a bit more tolerable but if I actually paid full price, I would've had a few choice words.

IpsDisplay, 27 Oct 2023Small smartphone lovers NO MORE EXCUSES!
Put your money ... moreThe majority of people you call "small phone lovers"
are not looking for mini smartphones but for compact ones. The Galaxy S23 or Standard iPhone is what me and many other people are looking for in terms of dimensions. But I don't need a flagship device nor do I want to spend 800-1000€ for a smartphone.

Let's make a mini, in the size of a pro. Just give it smaller battery and screen. But don't make the phone smaller! Calling it mini will make people buy it, instead of the pro in same size but with bigger screen.

The same goes for Chinese and Indian market phones. US phones are more likely to be global phones, but not always.
You gotta check the bands for where you live and where you travel.
