Anonymous, 08 Nov 2023No far from that..What u making difference from 30 minutes? 🤷‍♂️ Even phone with less capacity can outperform phone with larger capacity.. But not much typical 6.8" smartphone whith 4500 battery will have very similar life

Impressive results from iphones. Can't wait to see how S24 will perform.

        Makes more sense.

I like this test way more than the old one. But the best part is customisation. Then I can really compare phones in line with MY usage. In all of the listed phones my ratings are totally different than your conclusions. My settings are 5% calls, 30% browsing, 65% streaming, 0% gaming. This way some of the phones in the middle of your rank list goes on top of my. And the other way around. Great job guys!!!

I use my phone around 2-4 hours per day, and it's on standby for the rest of the day.

A decent standby time is very important in choosing the right phone. A battery test without information about standby time is useless. Most people do not use their phone continuously for 10 hours.

Testing should be on the same playing field just like having your phone on maximun brightness. So should consider these two more parameters
                1. 4G or 5G Network only
                2. WiFi only Connection no data transmission
                3. 90 Hz or Maximun Available Hz Refresh Rate
Regard. An Avid reader of your content

It is very disappointing for me. I've found GSMArena's Endurance Rating is the most realistic, since it factors in standby time. It is crucial for all the users to compare this Endurance rating standby time between all the phones on the market, in order to choose the right one for them. Please GSM ARENA, reintroduce it, otherwise you are making a mistake.

Taking photos and videos is a big deal and it consumes battery quite a bit.

7 hours gaming on pixel with above average gpu load? What game is this? pubgm low settings? Will you measure the fps along time too? Or have you set it so that even low end phones get a consistent 30 fps?

Nice job! It will for sure reflect better the reality in today's mobile world.

Good to see this update.i hope youtube video is not hdr.some phones boost brightness in hdr content which will give them disadvantage against non hdr screens.constant 200nits will give a fair comparison.

we would also like to see combination with idle time.for example,we should adjust individual tests like 1-2 hours each, then the system should calculate a total discharging time.

Please add an idle matrix to the Active use score.. And also idle score (wifi + 4G/5G + bluetooth ON)

We need to know as some powerful chipsets have poor idle consumption

whilst other low end chipsets have a better idle consumption.

It is an important information for us to find out.

Some people will need long idle standby time as requirement.. especially for 2nd phone

No standby rating any more, boo...

You missed the ball on not including the standby times. I know you did it because it would take too long time for you, but still. If the device drains 1%/h or 2%/h while locked, over 24h, this is a huge difference.

Also, no wifi/cellular distinction.. Yes, it would complicate things for you and for some people, but it's also a huge huge factor.

Akashraj, 09 Nov 2023Some devices has good active drain and bad idle drain. From... moreUnfortunately if it's not in the test people won't really notice one line about stand-by drain hidden in a review. And it'll be forgotten about. Which is precisely why it's important to have it in this battery test - it's just as consequential in the real world as the other test categories.

taghack, 08 Nov 2023On the subject of idle testing: Throughout the years of ... more"Due to a number of factors including things like background processes, signal and OS version differences."

But those are the exact things that impact battery drain when a phone isn't used. Some phones will do it better because they've been optimised in those regards. It's important we still see that in battery tests.
