potato4k, 31 Oct 2023Yup, Tim Cook still thinks we live in the 2000s.
This is ... moreYes, but that laptop has top tier battery life, top tier cpu performance, best in class iGpu performance, top tier display and top tier speaker system
And all of that for that price. So if Apple users are stuppidd to buy that than windows users are even more so at that price

This is ... moreBut there are lot of such people. How else do you explain the enormous profit of Apple?
Their products are no better than the competition. They just spend more money on increasing L1, L2 cache sizes on CPU and latest chip fabrication.
If the competition spends similar amount of money on their CPU/GPUs, there would be not much of a difference.

Quite frankly speaking, 1600 USD for 8GB of RAM is outright batshit insane I don't understand what the hell was running through Apple's head when they decided to release this base model.
Also, the 15-inch M2 MacBook Air has been made pretty much obsolete by this release - The new SoC is obviously faster and will most likely run a lot cooler than M2, and the 14-inch Pro chassis packs much better speakers, larger battery, significantly higher quality HDR-capable display, better quality microphone and more ports. Unless you prefer Air's thinner chassis and fanless design (Mind you though, the M3-powered 14-inch Pro will run silently 95% of the time unless you push it hard enough), there's just no point in buying the bigger Air at the moment.

M1 MacBook is quite rare where I am (almost no one sells second hand), so I wanted to buy it and try it... The laptop has been out for 3 years.

This is another bad news for markets where they only have the pre configured options available. A $1600 Pro laptop with just 8GB of RAM in 2023. Apple really thinks their customers are stupid.

Keynote also had a graph showing difference in power of new M3 against M1. Yes, M1. The M2 is nowhere in there for some unknown reasons. 😂

$1600 for 8gb ram. Thank goodness PC market hasn't gone backwards despite Apple leading this segment.
