I guess they just ditched the Airs, the entry-level Pro seems like an upgrade over the last year's Air M2 as well, and it's not a very huge improvement apart from the chipset.

        [deleted post]My legion 5 pro with 3070ti ryzen 7 6800h 32GB 1TB cost just 1299 (+TAX) (January 2023).
Legion slim 5 with ryzen 7 7840HS and 4060ti had prices below that at least a few times.
But I can tell you that the battery life is terrible for 5 pro.
        It's essentially a desktop replacement.

Macbooks are like glorified iphones and ipads without touch functionality.
But they are good for people who only need that much.

For real work, you need a much bigger screen. iMac 24" is fine, but if someone makes an iMac pro rival (with the same resolution) and a ryzen processor, I'd most definitely go for it.

MacBooks are E-Waste cause of T4 Chip, Soldered SSD, RAM, Wifi Chip, every part even hall sensor that puts your screen to turn off when closed is serialized.

Basically you are just biting Apples marketing gimmick to buy their overpriced e-waste products & worse supporting them to make more e-waste/anti-repair antics.

[deleted post]I am a windows and android user, but I bought a MBP16 Why? the 20+hrs of battery.
Sorry, but I have had Windows laptops from MS, Lenovo, Dell and so on, and the battery is rubbish. even when they say will last a working day, they barely last 3 hours with teams running, or they run extremely hot. If you are working away and need something with power and battery, the MBP is the best. I never take my charger to work now.

Nick Tegrataker, 31 Oct 2023Quite frankly speaking, 1600 USD for 8GB of RAM is outright... moreIt's planned obsolescence. We know 8GB RAM is bare minimum for today's general computing task. Even phones have more RAM nowadays. But Apple intentionally put 8GB RAM on their pre-configured models. Most people would buy these models since they're the ones available readily at retailers. With such minimal RAM, consumers will feel slow downs quicker when they start running more apps and as the OS and software get more complex in a few years. And then they would think they need to upgrade sooner.

It's the same reason Apple put 16GB as base storage for iPhone for the longest time. It's to encourage faster upgrades as they know that baseline spec is not sufficient.

                  RIP 13" MacBook Pro.

                  You won't be missed.

No, but seriously. Who the heck would go for the MacBook Pro instead of the Air with M2? Unless they want studio-quality mics and fans at a cheaper price than the 14-inch, which is kinda stupid.

I'm just wondering if the M2 13" MacBook Pro is still in production though.

Watch the keynote and Apple intentionally comparing it mainly to the M1 to show a "larger" improvements. If they used the M2, those delta will not be as great for marketing. Reality distortion field to make it look like the M3 is a huge improvement.

Surely the Macbook Pro M1, and M2 14" models were predecessors to the new M3 Macbook Pro 14"? why are you comparing the 13" model with the 14?
