Now add the misery of LG shutting down and you're stuck with two jokers who maximized the phrase pay-more-for-less.

Also, yes you need to unlock bootloader in Xiaomi to access fastboot and downgrade or repair the software.. but you always have the option to RE-LOCK the bootloader and received updates like normal.

When you unlock it, you agreed to the risk of compromising the devices integrity. People often assume android is not secure enough but when google implanted this(secure boot) measured, people like you still complaining.
I agreed that current 1 week policy before unlock bootloader is enough but if they could follow google with instant unlock it would be great. Unfortunately they go way harder to just unlock the bootloader. On bright side, you still don't lose anything other than updates when unlocked unlike Samsung or Sony

I do agree that for those who unlock the bootloader, this news is irrelevant as custom ROM doesn't need OTA updates in the first place.

We have phones like xiaomi 14 pro with the latest snapdragon chipset , insanely good cameras and smooth UI having a price tag less than non Chinese phones that carry less specs

Considering I am thinking on not rooting my next smartphone, this is more out of principle but: bye, bye Xiaomi. I won't consider your products for my next purchase.
We should stop be accepting of policies that exist only to limit our freedom in using the devices we buy however we prefer.
