Google will feel vindicated, but note that this doesn't mean blue bubbles on Android.

RICH, 21 Nov 2023Why do you think Android is better? THE ecosystem is not ... moreMy s23 ultra cost 1200 dollars so you are wrong buddy its not for poor people and honestly its a better phone than my iPhone 14 pro.

RICH, 21 Nov 2023Why do you think Android is better? THE ecosystem is not ... moreI live in the US and Android is better. I can afford an iPhone but no thanks. No sideloading, no buy. I do have a hand-me-down XR but I didn't buy that. The ecosystem for me is fine. Just fine. What the hell do you mean by "-be a man"? I'm not gonna "be a man" and admit something false. I'm gonna be SOMEONE and use whats better.

Im actually an Apple user, phone, mac, ipad......I am the first to say that timmmmay cook should have adopted rcs messaging years ago....group and family texts suck. Individual texting stinks. I Stopped talking to friends with Android phones cuz it was horrible experience.

Great intro on this post. Similiar thing happened years ago with Blackberry. I got tired of people asking my "PIN", like if that was the only way to communicate. Apple looked like following same path... Anyway, as you said, there's WhatsApp and Telegram worldwide, both fast and reliable. So, let Apple keep it bubbles, and propietary cables. I really couldn't care less!

n5Thype, 18 Nov 2023type c, easier sideloading, RCS and SE4 soon, no better tim... moreAndroid is subjectively (meaning by opinion) better, Android been had Type C since mid 2010's. Sideloading is very easy on Android. Just download an APK of the app (Minecraft, for example), flick a setting and boom. Done. Ignoring RCS, there are FASTER and bigger phones than the current SE3. SE4 may have A16, which already have promising competitors.

Should you switch? In my opinion, no. Sideloading is literally a flip away, Type-C has been on Android for almost 10 years now, and Qualcomm/MediaTek SoC's are catching up to Apple. (Gonna compare A18 to SnapDragon 8 Gen 2 probably).

RCS is a protocol. Supporting RCS will benefit Apple users. The Apple CEO doesn't want to support RCS because he wants you and your mother to buy/use Apple phones. He doesn't care about you and your mother. He only wants money.

First what the obsession with horses they have no correlation whatsoever with mobike networks and phones. Not even in terms of talking about performance.

                      Next I'd ask the following:

In Canada we have The Emergency Braidcast System. It's a national early warning communication network that our government will use to communicate to citizens in the event of an immenent attack on our nation.. think to siren horns of WW1/2 would sound off.

SMS, Like Cable and UHF, FM/AM radios are part of that network.

E911 on mobile phones here, when you enable calling over WiFi you'll see a warning that your precise location cannot be sent to Emergency services (Police, Fire Dept, and Ambulatory services) and you accept agreement of acknowledgement should you proceed. Do you get such a prompt across Europe carriers on your phones?!

Is there a similar network or system for early warning tragic events that affects every citizen?!

Is there a fully internet based standard that is guaranteed and robust enough proven over time 10yrs or more (30yrs would be good) where uptime is tremendously reliable and not every year service has had downtime like many of Apples and Googles and Oracle's servers and services HAVE very recently? This is NOT conjecture but very easily searchable fact.

This is my concern for any dislike of a staple service that's been proven ovr do long.

                      Ezmaple:
BBS existed for 7yrs before the internet was fully viable and useful (to reach DSL and high speed cable modems, above 256KBPS downlaod and upload).

How long after MP3s did it take for streaming internet radio beyond Sirrius to happen?!

How long did streaming internet services take after Napster or Utorrent or PirateBay to launch for reliable TV and movie content?! FYI many ppl didn't even know Netflix was the first in the game and had a 5yr headscarf over anyone else.

Netflix JUST last year finally ended their DVD & VHS rental service in North America lmao!

Transitions happen fairly quickly but overtaking staples takes some time.

NeonHD, 17 Nov 2023You're not missing out on anything. I mean there'... moreThere are functions you may not use on ios at work however I'm not sure thr following is capable on RCS that ios imessgw has.

Sharing a live screen to the other participant where secured items in settings is auto blocked from the viewer.

Request to co tell the screen for It pro's if your business registered such functionality to Apple. Apple techs do this all the time but not without your explicit verbal consent and ONLY to do a specific action not multiple.

I care nothing for the green or blue bubble and never have I'm not a child. I do care about interoperability and a backbone that's been proven over several decades that really no longer cost anyone anything unless you're asinine enough to roam overseas with your carriers SIM.

This whole imessage vs rcs debate or debacle reminds me heavily of RIM'S/BlackBerry's BBM & PIn messaging vs the then up and coming WhatsApp which obliterated BBM and PIn messaging.

                        Guess what?
WhatsApp relies still on mobile networks phone numbers to even start or verify you. A proven backbone.

People in Germany for example most of the time have contracts with unlimited phoning to each national net, sometimes unlimited text (SMS) to each net and limited data (5GB to 50GB in regular).
Limited data isn't that bad because when you used up your data, e.g. 50GB, which is available in full speed, you can still use data with slowed down speed which is enough for sending text over messengers like WhatsApp.
Unlimited data is also available since a few years but it's extremely expensive compared to the limited data contracts.
Yet it's only a question of time until unlimited data contracts will become the golden standard like it became for home internet contracts a few years ago.
Like someone already said, SMS is a dying horse in Europe. Some carriers already deactivated the possibility to send SMS in their net but you can still receive them.
RCS which is the successor to SMS won't change anything on that, that it's already replaced in Europe by messengers, mostly WhatsApp.

type c, easier sideloading, RCS and SE4 soon, no better time to switch than now
