Google will feel vindicated, but note that this doesn't mean blue bubbles on Android.

Gamma Ghetti, 17 Nov 2023"want a removable battery, headphone jack and SD card ... moreThere are ways to design all of these things failsave and with only very minimal additional space requirement. But i know there are people like you with a limited mind and vision in terms of engineering, who love to support companies with lazy anti consumer practices that take away choice and flexibility from the user, just for the sake of profit. Who just assume people won't need this or that as a weak argument, instead of supporting people to unleash the full potential from their devices and all its possibilities, and encouraging phone designers to walk the extra mile to implement it. If you want dumbed down 1000$ emoji lifestyle machines just buy something from the fruit company and let more demanding users alone, please.

I mean there's read receipts and HD media support, but that's not really important and anyone who complains about it are just being nitpicky. Besides the lack of read receipts is good (for me xD)

Love the author's stance on this. Would've been even funnier if the author mistakenly wrote "green is good, blue is poor - or something like that" on purpose.

People in Germany for example most of the time have contracts with unlimited phoning to each national net, sometimes unlimited text (SMS) to each net and limited data (5GB to 50GB in regular).
Unlimited data is also available since a few years but it's extremely expensive compared to the limited data contracts.
Yet it's only a question of time until unlimited data contracts will become the golden standard like it became for home internet contracts a few years ago.
Like someone already said, SMS is a dying horse in Europe. Some carriers already deactivated the possibility to send SMS in their net but you can still receive them.
RCS which is the successor to SMS won't change anything on that, that it's already replaced in Europe by messengers, mostly WhatsApp.

Not everyone uses the same messaging platform - (Joke: For every 5 people nearby, there's 6 messaging apps in use). And many of my relatives don't have internet/data services at all, so those other platforms that are data-required, are completely worthless.

Bluemarble, 17 Nov 2023Why US users still using iMessage where there are much bett... moreIt's because in the US, most cellular plans already offer unlimited voice and text by default, so there's no incentive to use other services. In most other countries, prepaid/pay-as-you-go are the norm, and users are paying per SMS message. Even postpaid plans have limited quotas on voice and text. Thus when something like Whatsapp came out that made messaging essentially free by using data, users are adopting it quickly.

Nobody needs RCS. We need replaceable bigger batteries on thicker phones and louder, bigger speakers.

Gamma Ghetti, 17 Nov 2023But WhatsApp doesn't support SMS. iMessage is better i... moreSMS was replaced by whastapp about 10-15 years ago. I work in telecom business for 15 years and I know SMS is not used by individuals anymore. mostly, companies use it for promotion, single sign-on or banks use it for 3D secure payment. whatsapp is already preinstalled on most of new phones so, a non-whatsapp user would be old symbian or old nokia phone user. I'm not lying but, I have never seen any of my friends (europe,uk,russia) or family members use imessage. if I would be using imessage, it would be 30-40% probability to succeed sending media. on whastapp this probability is 99%.

How much longer you may argue but one thing you can not refute is that however bt technology advance, it can not go ahead of wired technology in sound quality.
