Anonymous, 22 Nov 2023If you want to trade in your phone for a Pixel you have to ... moreWith Best Buy trade-in, you get the money taken off the price up front. Way better, in my opinion.

I am assuming more people buy from a store like BestBuy than from Googles store directly. Probably. Maybe. I don't know, actually, lol.

If you want to trade in your phone for a Pixel you have to pay the Pixel's full price and wait for your refund. Other companies take the trade in value of your phone off the top, you only pay the difference up front. This must be hurting Pixel sales.

It's a shame that they rate the tensor g3 processor as "average or mid-range" compared to other high-end smartphones, as they test it with a benchmark programs that is not suitable for this type of processor. The G3 chip pushes the boundaries of on-device machine learning and Ai features, that today's smartphone processors can't achieve. The funny thing is that some people even recommend xiaomi instead of Pixel 8..

It is a flagship chip. you can say its not the bestest but it is not midrange at all. Stop bs everything about Pixel.

Pixel 8 Pro is the flagship. For obvious reasons.

There are multiple articles that highlight the performance woes of the Tensor SoC compared to its class peers.

            It is a mid-range phone.

Once Tensor is manufactured and fabricated by TSMC, I will happily pay even 1499 for 512GB. Till then no Pixel. Will happily get Moto/OnePlus/Nothing Phone 2.

Pumpino, 22 Nov 2023Why would you choose the Xiaomi or OnePlus over the Pixel 8... moreMIUI is not horrible anymore. It's about personal taste. If you like stock Android, we have only three options. Pixel, obviously. Motorola, Nothing. Pixel is overpriced and Tensor is shit as compared to competition(with respect to price). Motorola doesn't launch flagship phones anymore, if they make, they don't launch it everywhere. I would love to use those and recommend them as well. They make best in class phones barring software updates and camera(camera is not bad either). Nothing Phone 2. Best in class software, even better than Pixel at times, but horrible camera for launch price, despite having good hardware. They haven't released good fixes to camera software yet. They haven't released A14 update yet. I am not in hurry. But One Plus 11 already got Android 14 update and it's superb. Slower Xiaomi(in terms of updates), released A14 update for Xiaomi 13 Pro.

Pumpino, 22 Nov 2023Why would you choose the Xiaomi or OnePlus over the Pixel 8... moreOne Plus 12 will have solid camera. And One Plus has solid camera since OP9Pro. Not flagship level, but decent enough for the price. One Plus 11 has remarkable improvement over OP10P.

Mills, 21 Nov 2023If you want Stock Android and amazing photos with AI, maybe... moreThere won't be One Plus Nord 4. There will be One Plus Nord 5.

Google needs to implement TSMc solution and it's perfect in my opinion.

One Plus 12 and 12R needs to launch globally at attractive price points.

Marco M, 22 Nov 2023Because the Xiaomi 14 has a significantly better display (l... moreLTPO is for having better battery life, if pixel 8 outperforms 8 pro in battery life, it doesn’t matter that 8 pro has LTPO technology. I don’t get what you meant by “sharper” display, if it is color accuracy, pixels are way better than xiaomi phones (unless 14 / 14pro break the traditional), if you mean brightness, the numbers like “2000/2600/3000 etc” are for HDR, again if 14/14 pro do as they have been doing, like 13 ultra, it would not be brighter that pixel 8 family in non HDR contents. Better chip is for when you can actually use that power, 8 gen 3 is an overall better SoC than M1, but on the phone, you have a lot more AI tasks that pixels can do and 8Gen3 phones “currently” can not do, while they are weaker than 8g1+. Yes, G3 is poor for gaming, and it is not as stable as it’s competitors, so obviously people who tend to play with phones should stay away from it, but for other 50% or more people who are not heavy gamers, it is enough.
The UI preference for everyone varies and I totally agree, but UX is not, and I have seen plenty of people complaining about MiUI. Finally, your money, your phone, nobody can force anyone to choose a specific brand or so.

                        So stop the cap!

Pumpino, 22 Nov 2023Why would you choose the Xiaomi or OnePlus over the Pixel 8... moreBecause the Xiaomi 14 has a significantly better display (larger, sharper, LTPO, brighter, dolby vision support and 12-bit colors), faster storage by far, faster chipset and more RAM from 256GB model and up for futureproofing. They've got a similar main camera sensor, though Xiaomi has better optics and a larger aperture to let in more light. So all compute trickery aside, the Xiaomi has the better basis for natural looking photos.

Sure, many like google's artificial looking photos, ready boosted for social media, but I don't. Just like the 8 pro, the secondary cameras on the Xiaomi 14 walks over the pixel 8 ones. And if you're the type to record videos on your phone, the Xiaomi can record in the following HDR modes:
Dolby Vision, HDR10+ and 10-bit LOG.
The Pixel 8 only supports recording in the base HDR10.

The screen alone would be enough for me to wait for the Xiaomi 14.

Other bonus features with the Xiaomi 14 is newer and better bluetooth with support of aptX Adaptive and loads faster charging.

Pixel 8 is a bit meh. The Pixel 8 pro at least has a proper screen size and LTPO. Still no DV support, nor 12-bit colors and slow storage and not the greatest chipset. Decent offering at it's current 799 USD price point though. Does it miss features compared to proper flagships? Yes, but it undercuts it so much by price that it is a bargain - if the missing features aren't dealbreakers.

UI preference is individual. For me MIUI walks over Pixel, although thankfully over the past few years google has been slowly adding features similar to what have been available in MIUI (and others) for years. So at least the pixels of today doesn't feel as crippling to use as the pixels from a few years ago. Also, the phone in question (Xiaomi 14) runs a new UI.

Why are you so pained about Google products?
                            Especially the Google Pixel products.

Don't even think of getting any of them. They're overpriced for the specs they're given. Get a Nothing Phone 2 instead, it's camera has also drastically improved over the updates.

So, which was the better barbeque mini grill?

I wish the battery tests included standby time. It's especially important with Tensor chips.

Please change the wallpaper to white while making a 3D model. Thanks to this we will see more detail (like punch hole size, corner radius etc) about the screen.
