any app kept in ram means more power consumption so it makes no sense to keep many apps opened for a long time after the screen has been turned off so 12gb ram is plenty

Anton el papy, 03 Dec 2023the more the better!! If I am going to pay more than 1000 ... moreYeah well, but even if that more, say 24GB, would be no different from 12GB, would is still "better"?

6gb works with light android version
8gb is pretty good for everything
12gb is futureproof
16gb is extra futureproof but can be used in like samsung dex/heavy gaming/emulation or something
24gb, same as 16gb but more extreme purposes/flex

My first smartphone had 384MB of RAM, had it for 6 years even though it was unusable after a certain time. My second smartphone was a huge jump because it was a flagship for it's time, it had 4GB of RAM, at first 4GB were plenty enough but after 6 years with it, 4GB weren't enough. My current flagship is going to be 3 years old soon and it has 8GB of RAM. For me who I am a power user, 8GB for now are enough but sometimes I feel that I need more for a smoother experience, I started to see apps getting killed in the background even when I have disabled all the power saving/restriction options (My device has a RAM lock feature as well).
So I would say 4GB for entry level phones, 6/8GB for mid-range phones, 12+GB for high-end phones.
*12GB of RAM for now are enough, more than that I think it's unnecessary but in the future we might actually even more RAM.

8GB should be the absolute minimum, 6GB is only acceptable on a £100-£150 phone (like what the A05 was supposed to be before it's stupid price increase). Other than that, anything around £600-£700 should have 12GB of RAM. For an Ultra flagship, anything more than 12GB makes sense, seeing that such a flagship uses or should use components that are excess to cater to niche crowds, like how 24GB of RAM is useful for certain emulators.

Anything more then 8 is unnecessary imo. Phones are getting more and more efficient so you don't need more ram, even for 'future proofing'. Even huge games recommend 6-8gb of ram

8GB is the sweet spot in the current day and age. You can get away with 6GB if you have a lightweight Android skin (barebone AOSP for example) and not many apps. 4GB or less and you will see stutters and apps closing frequently.
As for virtual RAM, I keep that uselesss marketing feature off if the phone allows me to.

Anything more than 12GB RAM is overkill. I believe 12GB is the sweep spot even for future proofing.

8 is more than enough
12 for Switch emulation
Anything above that is just numbers for numbers sake.
