DaFink, 07 Dec 2023Well yeah, I have come to have an appreciation for the more... more"I have come to an appreciation of the more deliberate pace Apple have in rolling out new technology and features" new technology?.. you call 4 years deliberate pace? Brands put out different types product to give customers a wide variety of choices but since it's Apple it's loyal fanboys would blindly defend them. What bragging rights are you talking about? Have Samsung, honor, Huawei and vivo ever bragged about their flip and foldable? "And your done with it" done with what tbh? Have you actually used a flagship Android, If yes, which one?. "I don't want bendy screen with huge crease" you don't want them, millions of people actually do and u don't speak for them period. "I don't want UD camera where the results are akin to a picture taken through a dirty window" Don't you know how to read or think before you actually say something? Do the selfie quality of the z fold 5 looks dirty? I don't think so, cause most people who buy them would take a DSLR and a selfie stick with them, and actually most Korean wouldn't buy them.... If ur okay with apple so called "deliberate pace" then be okay with it. Stop dragging android brands to ur rubbish comparison as you wouldn't buy them side by side and compare. One I've noticed about fanboys is that they don't actually think before saying something when it comes to Apple's related article. "It can be done in the right approach far more than Android competitors " it's already 4 years and the right approach hasn't arrived? Lol, going to 7 years to produce a UD cam when Samsung even perfected a 5mp UD cam. That means 14years for a foldable or never for a 2/3trillion dollar company, lmao apple are humans and make mistake Android are Ai and claims to be perfect. 😂

Just because you've used old android probably in 2014 doesn't mean newer version are are halfbaked your delusional, and also apple copied the lock screen edit from Samsung and that's fact! Am pretty sure goodlock was available in your country wasn't it? And what hafbaked Android have you ever used? Oh please stop fooling around your older than this.

Also, if one major android manufacturer goes UDC others will start. I just hope one of them starts UDC because of this.

Imagine if Apple made an iPhone today with 15 Pro Max specs but no selfie camera to allow a full screen display. No dynamic island but touch ID on the power button. I must be one of the few who would buy it. Lol... That would work for me until the time they can make a proper UD camera, coz I get all other specs including the main camera at the back.

Marco M, 07 Dec 2023The point is to not have anything sabotaging the screen. So... moreI’m sorry but to me that is not a sufficient reason to sacrifice the image quality to the degree that it does. Plus those pictures are going to suck not just on the display of the phone itself, but any other display they are ever shown on.

DaFink, 07 Dec 2023Then what is the point in them in the first place, and why ... moreThe point is to not have anything sabotaging the screen. So that there is no dead spot in your display as if it is defective. That is the point of UD cameras.

Stating "after 2026" to make it sound like it is coming to them sooner?
It is in 2027, or later.

After all many on this site like to complain about the lack of honesty in Apple’s marketing, but I don’t see anyone calling out Samsung or ZTE etc for them not stating clearly that their own UD cameras suck by comparison in their own marketing spiel.

Funny that don’t you think, or am I to believe that being able to see ever so slightly more of a far worse quality picture is a justification for UD cameras in Android land nowadays 🤔

[deleted post]M-series chips may not be desktop SoC and I exaggerated but still, tablets using SoC meant for laptops and still having good battery life is pretty cool

Bailey , 07 Dec 2023That approach is excellent but my only problem is that Appl... moreI agree with everything you say. Only I don’t see Apple’s marketing as a ‘problem’ as such. Whether a consumer buys into the hype generated by a marketing team is up them, it’s the marketing teams job to spin things as much as they can though 🤷

As a consumer myself, one who has used many Androids over the years and thus been part of that ‘test subject’ mentality, I’m now more content with the slow and steady approach Apple favour.

They are not perfect, and there are areas where Apple products need to change. But yes they do enjoy the benefit of not constantly having to stand out in a crowd like in the Android space. So on this particular point, I for one would greatly appreciate them learning from the mistakes of others, and waiting until the hardware is actually ready.

Be it folding screens, UD cameras or sensors, silly air gestures, or whatever. In my own experience the Android oem approach to such things has been to get them out there, and the sooner the better. Whether they work quite right or offer a tangible and immediate improvement over the features they are replacing, hasn’t always (or even often) been a consideration.

Just get them out there now, and we’ll fix them in future versions, well at least have bragging rights until then. That seems to be the go to philosophy for many Android oems. And I’m done with it, I don’t want bendy screens with giant creases in them, I don’t want UD cameras where the results are akin to a picture taken through a dirty window.

I’m happy to wait until such things can confidently be done with zero compromises. Whilst Apple are not perfect in this regard (they are humans just like the rest of us after all, and everyone makes mistakes) they do go for the ‘perhaps wait until it can be done right’ approach far more than their Android competitors.

Android approach is to have an idea and perfect it over time meaning that the general public becomes the the test subject. The reason is that competition in the Android space is fierce and Apple can take their own sweet time as they are the only people that run iOS and they don't have hundreds of OEMs to compete with. This can be a good and bad thing as their innovation is at a snail's pace. But it has resulted in a stable phone for everyday use but as an iPhone user there is simply nothing interesting about their phones but they are extremely reliable and boring which is why I use them. The OS looks completely dated and stale to me now and seriously needs an update and it still is awful at handling messages.

Given Japans rich history in photography technologies I would have thought Japanese consumers would prefer image quality over where the dam camera is located!

And let’s all be perfectly honest here, image quality is not exactly the MVP on any existing Android based example of UD cameras now is it 🤷

Knowing full well that Apple's implementation is ALWAYS better than Android's. Widgets was practically forgotten for years until Apple's implementation now look at how Samsung copied smart stacks. Lock screen customization also forgotten, yet Samsung somehow "innovated" this feature. Don't give me that BS Good Lock crap when that wasn't available to ALL regions.
