Why is this phone considered pocketsized? It has fairly standard measures, not compact in any way.

I have matt foil on my xioami m4 pro 5g but its not ruining my display whatsoever..this nextgen looks nice...but I doubt it would get on the market as the ones with matt foil protection on display...maybe for some....tastes are different... :)

well, Matte or anti-glare display is perfect for laptops but in Smartphones it looks so bad and not ideal

they should have continued with real e-ink display...
i think it would be great for "under the sun" reading if that is really their purpose for creating "this" phone...
besides, i can just buy a matte protective film for my existing phone... and get the benefits (and drawback)

Mills2, 11 Dec 2023the second to last sentence literally embodies GSMArenaCouldn't agree more. It's like when they reviewed the Huawei MatePad Paper, and treated it like a typical tablet instead of comparing it with the likes of ReMarkable, or Boox tablets.

Yes, I vote for more matt glass display phones!

As long as it still uses LCD or OLED, which requires electrical current to retain a pixel state, it won't be as good as a real e-ink regarding power usage. Sacrificing convenience on display without gaining that e-ink advantage is not worth it. And even if it can perform like a real e-ink power-wise, the refresh rate still bars it from smartphone usage. In smartwatch though, it would be great if it can prolong battery life significantly.

A matte screen is a bliss, if you use your phone like most people (for productivity) and only watch a video from time to time in your 15 minute lunch break. This phone only needs a boost in luminosity and it will be perfect for most of us. I don't need the sharpest screen. I care a lot more about battery life (more pixels = more battery used to display them all) and performance overall for day to day usage + good pictures from my cameras... screen sharpness is really really at the bottom of my list. Even an HD screen is good enough for a screen of 6 inches....

Even old style fashioned LCD looks a lot better.
Would like to see a phones with Mini Led ro Micro Led technology for teh fun.

Chavis, 10 Dec 2023I assure everyone this article has been ready since before ... moreI almost thought this was a shameless copy of MKBHD's video, but upon reading it I see it includes new information and makes much more detailed comparisons and offers more insight as to why each drawback exists and how there are better alternatives in almost every single aspect rather than using matte screen protectors.

                        It has a "pode"
                        also a "node"
                        but not a "mode"... :')

just use matte screen protector if you want matte looks and feel, at least you have option to replace it if you realized that you don't want a matte screen after all.

The timing is just a coincidence - probably because PR has started seeding review units recently, and there are not many other new phone releases to talk about these days. As for any potential content overlap - I think people should be worried when serious tech reviewers DON'T have the same opinion about the same piece of tech and not the other way around.

For example, I can’t count how many times a reviewer said the iPad 10 is weird. It would be nice to have different opinions but I guess we can’t have more than one.

I remember back in the day of Blackberry, all of my friends who use it always put on matte antiglare screen protector. Which made the screen viewing angle look sooo bad. I guess that's why its called antiglare.
