Anonymous, 09 Dec 2023I don't hate this phone, but It's really not wort... moreI didn't say the Fairphone 5 was worth the money. Also, I agree with bringing in more robust specs for its price.

BlahBlah, 11 Dec 2023Ah yes. It's a pos because you can't play the lat... moreN, it'a POS because battery is abysmal, so are the speakers, screen is pretty mediocre and it has no 3.5mm jack.

There is just nothing good about it.

BlahBlah, 11 Dec 2023There are two types of privacy in phones. The guy was talki... moreWell, we can't sue them, as we already agree to that when we start using a android device, that 5 hour of reading privacy policy, that no one actually reads. I am ok with thaz, well cause i use other means of privacy protection. I do not know for me privacy and security, as you also said, are two very different things, the guy clearly said privacy... for is just a puzzle that people beleieve that. I doubt he means security, but you might be right✌️

Anonymous, 09 Dec 2023Well it gets 1/10 value for money from me so repairability ... moreAh yes. It's a pos because you can't play the latest games on a phone right? Okay then enjoy buying a new phone every year. Problem solved. This product is not for everyone.

Carol-, 10 Dec 2023Wait what, Pixel Phones better at privacy?🤣 Ah, well, "... moreThere are two types of privacy in phones. The guy was talking about security in Pixel devices and you are talking about selling our data for use in adds. Those two things are separeted. If you believe Google is selling our data for some other uses then sue them. Lol

Anonymous, 09 Dec 2023It's nice that this phone has very high repairability ... moreThere is a good few reasons why is this brand so expensive. They do not produce their phones in such quantity like Xiaomi, Poco or whatever. Not even close. You all know when you buying more you get better pricing. It's not fair to compare Chinese OEM with non-Chinese one as Chinese OEM do EVERYTHiNG in their homeland. That's not just "made in..", you have to include all the work like logistics, HR, and many other things. It's all in the same country, you can't ignore it.

This phone is selling something unique and rare. It's perfectly fine if you want to buy something else. Not every user out there is deluded with high performance gains for their gaming sessions which will detoriate their batteries in one year. Some people want different things.

Me for example.. i don't play games on my phone at all. Does my old snapdragon 855+ device from 2019. feels slow? No! It's perfectly good for everyhing I need from a phone. Will I buy it? No. It doesn't have a great camera and for me that's the most important thing on a phone.

            Cheers
But to each to their own.

John Don Geilo, 09 Dec 2023Even though I at last weighted privacy above repairability ... moreWait what, Pixel Phones better at privacy?🤣 Ah, well, "nice" to see that google, the privacy eater, still manages to make people believe they are good at privacy while literally inventing "sell users data for profit"...

YUKI93, 09 Dec 2023If only we could see more phones like this from other mains... moreThere are some hope that with EU enforcing phone manufacturers to implement user-accessible in 2027, but a hope it could be done earlier as with USB-C enforcement, I think we could see some form removable batteries sooner than 2027. We'll see but fingers crossed.

Swaraj7, 09 Dec 2023Every new innovation is expensive first ... They don't... moreThere is no innovation in ripping customers of with mediocre hardware phone. Also i dont care about cheap labor in China as that dont mean the quality is worse then over paid lazy Europeans quality. Never mind that the phones hardware is made in Asian region in the same factories that do hardware for Chinese brands also. They still use Chinese cheap labor to get parts for there phones. At the time these things end up in the European factory they just set it all up like a lego so they have not much left to do on there own and for that we need to pay 2-3 times the actual price for the phone. Just cause of noble pay for the workers in Europe who's work quality isn't better cause they get paid more

Even though I at last weighted privacy above repairability and, therefore, chose the Pixel 7a, I acknowledge that Fairphone at least offer an alternative to all the other thousands of smartphones coming out every year. 99% of new devices don't offer anything unique. Even big companies like Samsung, Apple, Xiaomi or BBK with so many devices you have a hard time differenciate what their targeted customer group now is are incapable of offering one single easy to repair by yourself phone. That's quite pathetic.

We'd probably be able to use the phone as a true all in one tool instead of the spyware devices that are out there now.

But I care about the details. 3.5MM Jack, good battery, good speakers, decent, visible enough screen. That's really not much to ask. Too bad all manufacturers only have scamming in mind thanks to all the typical users who would buy anything they throw at them. However, Unfairphone's potential buyers are mostly not that kind (I hope...).
