IpsDisplay, 12 Dec 2023The last article you guys posted about the 9300 throttling ... moreThe problem with Mediatek imo isn't performance, for the past 2 year I'd have been fine with their performance really, what I'm sad about is the efficiency, the thermals, the throttling, the chips just suck from the battery a lot. I wish Mediatek calmed down and instead of creating a chip that blew Apple and Qualcomm in terms of performance, made a chip that blew them in terms of efficiency or at least matched them. IMO performance after SD 8+ Gen 1 is good enough and battery is the most important aspect of a phone. I think that's the reason the X100 Pro went with a 5400 mah battery, they know that the Mediatek chip is gonna be power hungry and they took a step, bravo vivo, a step in the right direction, would somewhat balance out the power hungry chip

That doesn't mean it's not quality...but there's no miracle : between 15 and 20% market share and 95% of sector's benefices...they need to cut costs to achieve that.
For exemple :
Less and slower ram
Slower storage.
And in past some badly built devices :

A17 Pro isn't able to beat 8 Gen 2 GPU
CPU comparaison is based on Geekbench.
A17 Pro uses Arm V8 instructions...Geekbench tests it with Arm V8 instructions, that's the way it should bé.
8 Gen 2, 8 Gen 3, Dimensity 9200, 9300 use Arm V9 instructions and are tested with...Arm V8, that's unfair.
Just look at the kind of tests made by Geekbench (AI and image procession), imagine what Matrix and Vectors extended instructions on V9 should accelerate this.
UFS4.0 on Android flagships since a year is about 1.75x faster than NVMe on iPhone 15 Pro Max
Lpddr5x on Android flagships since a year is about 30% faster than lpddr5 on iPhone 15 Pro Max...lpddr5T on Vivo X100 is even faster.
No generative AI on 15 Pro Max.
Ray-tracing hardware support 10 months later than Qualcomm and Mediatek.
Still no Arm V9.
At least AV1 support...available 4 years ago on Dimensity 1000!
At least USB3.
And everybody focused on a benchmark unoptimised properly for Android flagships...We don't even know how this company earn money!

Same goes for many else brands.
Quest oculus from HTC does lot more tricks and usually better at 400 eur price tag compared to Apple pro version for 3500.
Price never make qzuality but people do. handmade, handwork and handcrafting.
Company which is interested in profit only and makes just for profit but dont care much about quality like Apple when used 15 dollars worth of Titanium on pro models but called it a Titanium version just proven as much.
Quality is something else and definitely does not come from company which spends 4+ billions in advertising every year.

Cpt.Power, 12 Dec 2023You funny you know. In Eu and this will be sold in global a... moreGoing by your (faulty) logic, Vivo needs to provide spare parts for two years, not until 2030. You’ll barely find the X100 on sale in the european market, and it’s going to be available until Vivo launches the X110. Basically a year of sales in EU. I can hardly find an X90 Pro for sale in eastern Europe. And trust me, I’ve been looking! Plus, the EU can’t force the service centers which are privately owned to offer support for the X100 because Vivo provides the parts (more or less), so Vivo needs to comply to regulations, not the guy who repairs your phone. Sure, this isn’t a reason not to buy the phone, but if you crack the back, you might have to wait quite a while to get a replacement because there won’t be a stock of parts since it’s a bad financial decision for service centers to buy parts that might not sell. I’ve run into these kind of issues when I had an HTC U Ultra (the brand was relevant at the time) and I couldn’t find a single case for it in the whole country, had to get one from UK. Hell, I can barely find a Huawei case for the P30 Pro my wife has. Fact is, whether you like it or not, it’s easier to get parts and accessories for Samsung and Apple phones in Europe. It sucks, but it is what it is.

ENOCK2000, 12 Dec 2023according to my experience all smart phones brands from chi... moreI switched from OnePlus 7T PRO to Samsung S23 Ultra, and honestly, don't feel that big difference in software. I admit, I don't use most of the customizations from Samsung. The camera app is most important for me, and Samsung fails as I use GCam. I have not tried Xiaomi or Vivo yet.

according to my experience all smart phones brands from china makes better hardware but not software operation (sorry mwandi ba china for me is Samsung and iphone forever).
