The next Sony Xperia Pro is rumored to have a rotating camera ring

18 December 2023
The ring will give you manual control over zoom, aperture and focus, just like on a real camera.

I personally don't mind having Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, but it'd be nice if Sony delays it a little bit to get Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. With the latter being all about generative AI, it'd be interesting to see what Sony can do with it.

Yes, Sony phones are expensive, it's not for everyone, but you get features not on other phones, 21:9 no chin, no it island or round corners 4k HDR oled screen, as long but thinner, feels comfortable to hold by hand, 3.5mm headphones jack, sd card slot (possible to have 2.5tb) and even a lanyard hole, these are old school features which are so user friendly.

I own a Sony xperia pro-i, it's good but battery life ain't great, the camera is awesome, but if you unique accessories, XQZ-IV01 LCD Monitor + GP-VPT2BT and Bluetooth grip, the phone Becomes ultimate vlog kit

Not for cameras, videocameras, telescopes, microscopes, security, drones, cars nor medical gear.

There are lenses above $2000 that cant handle even 50mp, only insame ppl think those that cost less than $7 used by phones can.

Canon with 1/1.8" from 10-12 years ago beat phones. Not only being glass, but number of elements ( usually between 10-18) and so many shapes, while on phones they all are very similar (5-7 ) ..

Also all the enhancement some brands put to jpeg ruin the photos.
Shoot dng and just save as jpeg without changing anything , you will be seeing texture is far better ..

Mine has simple JN1. DNG is miles better than jpeg out of 40 edge pro.
No oil painting, no wax , nothing of those issues.

RobinArc, 18 Dec 2023Same thinking. This is ridiculous that all manufacturers fo... moreCamera is the most interesting part of new phones because of social media boom and people's current lifestyle that want to record most of their moments. If you don't use social media or take photo and video in general then everything including texting, calling, web browsing, screen quality etc is near perfect on current smartphones. Only exception is for gaming which is fun for now but no professional gamer would use their phone as main device because phone screens are small and new cpus and gpus are super powerful but there is currently no way to make them stay cool enough. The more power you have and smaller chip you go the more heat you get. So, there is really no real solution to make a device lightweight and super powerful and professional gamers accepted it. So, manufacturers trying to improve on what they could make better which is camera.

The issue may not be the sensor size, but rather the lens' inability to resolve more a certain MP in actual detail. And strangely it may have a little to do with plastic instead of glass lenses, but a lot more to do with the total surface area that the lens covers. The solution may be to have even brighter lenses with probably improvements in computational photography, that compensate for details without compensating by adding artificial sharpness. Huwei is working on a new lens design for smartphones. I am guessing that other smartphone companies are working at improving smartphone lenses too, improving details for matching those with much larger sensors, and cameras with much larger (protruding) lenses.

It could either be variable aperture or ND filter. Nevertheless, I'm looking forward to this new Xperia Pro model since the first one used Snapdragon 888 SoC and it's not one of Qualcomm's best.

Congratulations to Sony, and only Sony for actually continuing to innovate in smartphone technology, as opposed to the incestuous copycatting of anti-consumer features that pervades the industry.

                            Sony has not.

Mark 3 will not get android 14.
Policy is 2 android versions, then 12 months of patches after that.

Only mark 5 has A14 now.
1v in october, 10v in november and 5v is getting today.

According to other rumors, this will be the most interesting year for Sony Mobile in a long time. Possibility of full range renewal. Probably a new Pro, new Ace. Maybe even a complete name change (numbers) or even abandoning the Xperia name.
Pro could be better not only for photo but for sound and screen too.
