What does that even mean. Sony phones' auto mode is a literal garbage, anyone who uses Sony phone (me included, Xperia 5 II) will tell you that. People usually try to defend it by saying you're supposed to use the pro mode, which understandably gives you decent results, but not everyone has 5 minutes to spend on every photo.

Auto and manual give same results if you reproduce same settings.
Difference to other phones is the fact HDR is not default.
Other set to use HDR all the time, sony does not.
Fuuny, super wide cam of 13 Ultra is weaker than 1v. Since it has no hardware size advantage. 1/2.5" vs 1/2.6".
Explain.

Meh. Sony should focus on stepping up their software game instead. What are all these 2 thousand dollar gadgets good for if your auto mode makes worse photos than a 200 dollar Xiaomi phone?
Also, not a fan of moving parts on a phone. It's not a camera that you carry in a separate bag, it's a phone which you want to carry in your pockets, which means it will inevitably get the dust in its mechanism eventually.

In any case, it will be the year with the most change in 5 years (arrival of series 1, 5, 10). Personally I think that for Sony, 3 models would be enough. 1 Compact 5" because few brands have them, 1 6" and a very technological 7". But we will know more at MWC or later for the Pro.

Anonymous, 18 Dec 2023The 6.9" 4K C9 panels from Boe say otherwise. Since when has Sony ever used BOE panels? They're widely regarded as garbage and no one outside of China really uses them. Sony has stuck to Samsung panels since switching to OLED.

I bet Sony's alpha camera department doesn't like their brand being tarnished by these landifill phones. If my first 'Sony alpha camera' experience had been an Xperia, I wouldn't have purchased a real alpha camera. I wouldn't have even wanted one for free.
