Just because Apple takes years to "invent" things like periscope cameras and AOD which people have already forgotten because these things are taken for granted, and sells them as new features to make people think that Apple is innovating, it doesn't mean iPhones are good.
Moreover, if the USA weren't a global power and the "beacon of democracy", Apple wouldn't be that popular and successful.

My first smartphone was the iPhone 4 in 2010. Since then I haven’t bought ANY android phone. Who ever buys Apple stays with Apple.

I have an S22 Ultra. My friend has an iPhone 13 Pro max.
I asked her why she chose the iPhone after explaining her many advantages Android and Samsung have over Apple.
She said "but Apple feels so premium, e.g. when you open the package, the fluidity and premium feel of the device itself, the great software etc."

So, I will had understood if people left Samsung for other brands (like Xiaomi, OnePlus, Motorola, etc.). But, if they left Samsung for an even more expensive phone (iPhone), that means the price wasn't the actual reason they left Samsung. No?
And is the same with taking out features from Samsung phones. If these people didn't like this, why they went to some manufacturer (Apple) who has the same lack of features like Samsung does?
In my opinion, the reason is more complex than just this. Or maybe is a combination of multiple factors, combined with the bad decisions from Samsung. So people just said "I would rather buy an iPhone than stick with Samsung anymore".

- useless assistent that is very low IQ compared to google's, just like siri
- small cosmetics upgrades ( new phone is not even 5% bettervthan previous)
- decrease size of S to match iphone , consequently bad battery from S22/23
- tool to access sim slot
- remove IR blast
All this to turn Galaxy S series into " iphone that runs android".
None of these actions have any benefit to users .

This is the first time me and most of my friends changed from iPhone to Samsung. Stat's are cool though.

Samsung goal was feature phones, Extremely low end, mid range and logical priced flagships.
3 years in a row since 2020, Samsung forgets its goal, and the result is visible as sun.
Apple strategy was closed market with single brand, single OS, single market, multi region. Apple still do the same.
So, Apple is in its position. The fact is that Samsung lost its upper position.
In my opinion this can be a reason why Samsung stopped with price increasing of S24 line up.
Next few years are challenging years for manufacturers as Microsoft who is Out of this industry physically, surpassed Apple as the most valuable tech company.

Anyways bitten down to the neck, it's kind of abnormal (TABOO), traditions getting broken when things goes like this... And even if there are chances, that this happens again, it will remain a-surprise! Uncomfort words with disbelief will still be in the atmosphere.. Like😅 why??
It's simple, me and you knows the reason. As expected Chinese markets should be cheaper and there won't be much doubts and disbeliefs if they sell well at midrange/low-ends
Samsung and Apple at the top Ends. And as expected Samsung does better at proving their products are the most balanced all round availability and Apple, Although sells more through the easy nature of brand recognition and as fame STATUS SYMBOLs😒... So! to the public it's really shocking, if it happens like this.
Or are there explanations that the year (2023) products were boring and less convincing, given the notable STATUS SYMBOLs an upper hand¿¿🙃

[deleted post]Samsung oled costs much more than Boe oled. Reason chinese brands are shifting to domestic screens. They are saving easily $20-30/screen. Just because apple uses 8bit Full HD screen, does not mean it is cheaper than QHD used by other phones. Even the HD screen of iphone 11 was more expensive than QHD from S20+.
Imx989 (now called Lyt900) is largest sensor, but not the most expensive. Besides size, nothing special about it. It also does not have most advanced sony fab process.
Basically it is large version of 766.
BoM of chinese phones is barely above $400. While pro max is above $500.
Bill of Materials = value of hardware that does not count other costs. It is not final price.
Iphone 15 128GB: $423
Iphone 15 Plus 128GB: $442
Iphone 15 Pro 256GB: $523
Iphone 15 Pro Max 256GB: $558
If chinese phones had similar costs to iphones pro, then Xiaomi, Oppo, Vivo and Honor would never be able to sell them in China for $900-950. Even there they would cost at least $1100.

Why do you think that all the Android brands have formed some sort of an alliance against Apple? They are all accounted for as individual brands. The article wasn't about iOS vs Android market share.
Yes there are also brands as/in a group, like Transsion, and BBK, altough for some reason the latter are separated into vivo and OPPO, but to my knowledge OPPO includes Realme and OnePlus's market share as well.
